The rule change was a new one on me too. Was slagging this ref off (who is shit anyway but...)

The mid 3 are too flat and without one of the strikers dropping deeper, the front two are isolated, hence the amount of longer (and on occasion aimless) balls up to them

Ref is giving them fouls every time they fall over.

Not interested in Leon getting manhandled by their defence and Bill getting shoved in the back.

Getting ridiculous this... every time they hit the deck they get a free kick.

Glad i don't support a Spanish side if this is standard practice. Embarrassing.

Great defending then terrible from Leon

not bad, but the midfield struggled. Looking forward to see freeman play

Leon is knackered, Bryan is shite. Freeman and Lunny definitely sharper than last season. 3-5-2 instead of 3-4-1-2 not really working. We all look up for it though.

Magic to be back - even in Portuguese!!

A good showing from Bryan I thought, this is only his second senior appearance isn't it? He's not Enda but he's put a couple of balls in and hasn't looked massively off it.

Freeman very good, nice link up down the right.

Defensively not bad, poor in the first few minutes but settled down.

Billy looking lively, good finish for the disallowed goal, hard done by with fouls for and against.

Lundstram has been alright too, Norwood has seemed quiet to me but good under pressure and some good set pieces.

as above the midfield didnt really offer much going forward. Hopefully Fleck etc will add alot more

Hoping for a little bit of a change up at HT.
I want Bryan to succeed I really do... But you wouldn't of known he was even playing tonight.
Want to see McG, Luke Freeman, Enda and Jags 2nd half.

I think people need to place this in the context that it’s the first of any competitive football for us this summer. A year ago our first equivalent first game was against Stocksbridge Park Steels...

There was an attempt to deal with a cross by Moore that reminded me of the need for Henderson, though in fairness he made a good late save which Freeman did well to clear the rebound off the line.

I’d say the general encouraging notes are that Sharp looks in good condition (had an excellent finish chalked off by the ref), Kieron Freeman had a very good half, Slater had some nice moments, Norwood looks well recovered from his hernia op, nobody was awful. That’s about as much as you can expect at this stage.

Now for the things of more interest – how does Luke Freeman fit in, and where is Jagielka going to fit. I predict he’ll be RCB rather than Stearman...

Freeman looking much leaner and fitter than last season could give Baldock some serious competition on that showing

Agree with all that... Apart from I've not thought Bryan has got into the game at all

As already mentioned, this is the 2nd half lineup already confirmed.

Second half team
25 Simon Moore
2 George Baldock
3 Enda Stevens
4 John Fleck
7 John Lundstram
8 Luke Freeman
15 Phil Jagielka c
17 David McGoldrick
19 Richard Stearman
20 Kean Bryan
21 Mark Duffy

I don’t know who it was but someone (Lundstram?) played a great ball to Clarke but his effort to lob the goalkeeper, which was easily doable ended up being a terrible effort. All this after a great clearance on the goal line from our best player Kieron Freeman.

Not running the show like Stevens but compared to Barnet where he looked like he was playing on a one second delay he's much improved.

Put a good ball in about 15 minutes in but more that he's not done much wrong when I say a good showing.
