Question re. early 80s sponsorship

I remember this kit being sponsored by Bentleys (81-82?) and Renault (82-83?), Don't really remember Crabtree & Nicol sponsorship though.

Both Renault and Crabtree & Nicol sponsored our shirts in the 1982-83 season. Cant remember why, probably half season each?

I wonder if the pic was taken at Chesterfield on 28/12/82. See the frost on the ground and the opposition player in a blue white blue kit.

Other possibilities are Millwall on 12/3/83 and Southend on 26/3/83 (though frost is unlikely in March). Not likely to be Cardiff on 25/9/82 (no frost then) or Gillingham on 15/3/83 (night game). Those were all the teams we played with a kit like that that season.

We lost the Chesterfield game 3-1 by the way, Trusson got our goal and it was memorable for me as being the first away game I went to. It was also the first time I heard any criticism of Porterfield as we bummed along the lower half of D3 after our promotion the previous season.

Blades were sponsored by Bentleys in the 1981-82 season but they went bust halfway through the season, and Crabtree & nicol took over the shirt sponsorship midway through the division 4 championship campaign . I also think that the photo of the great |Keith Edwards was taken at Tranmere in the 81-82 season

Just checked the pics from the Tranmere game in the programme v Bury on 10/4/82 and you are absolutely right.

The Tranmere game was on 27/3/82 and we drew 2-2. Kenworthy scored 2 pens for us, but we thought we would lose when Tranmere got a pen in the last min. Waugh saved it and the taker then gave Waugh a kick and got sent off!
