Pyro or flare?

What's really surprising with the out pouring of righteous anger on here is how these people get away with this kind of behaviour time and time again .

It's ok saying that this kind of behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated and the only way to stop it is challenge it or ' shop ' the perpetrator , but who actually does this ?

It all sounds like " wind and piss to me ".

It's because, in this age of internet trolling, people say anything they want "electronically" because they can.

In the real "spoken" world this doesn't happen because they daren't.

Some do dare, been more than happy to call out racist twats at BDTBL in the past & I know plenty of others who have done the same. I would also be delighted to "grass up" - weird phrase - anybody I saw chucking pyro about.

So, when Lee Rigby was in the process of being decapitated, would you have assisted the sole woman who intervened or would you have got your phone out and filmed it like the rest of the bystanders?
 
Even if they were allowed I couldn't see myself taking any in but at the end of the day it's common knowledge that they aren't allowed to be brought in. It might change one day but this is the law we have for now. Other countries might allow it but that's other countries. We know if we do it that there's the risk of fines,arrest, stadium bans etc. People get cans of coke taken off them so not overly surprising that things that can burn at 1000 degrees also get taken. If people can go 90 minutes without a can or a cigarette, I think they can survive without fireworks for that period too. Plenty of other ways to celebrate. There's no ban on magic hats....yet.

Errrmmm........ What???

Not sure what you are getting at here, or how it relates to the point. In the past I have intervened in less serious situations than that when I have seen thuggery or bullying happening, and have on one occasion got a kicking for doing so. I hope & expect that I would have done the same in Lee Rigby's case. But you are making a very weird jump from the original point.
 

Flares/pyros seems to have touched a nerve. The old teenage self would have loved them, sod the consequences. The older, browbeaten, PC self is worried someone might get burned or fumigated. So if you must, boys, be very careful. Don't burn my new cardigan or make my Asthma flare up. I will watch from a distance . Not worth a banning order or criminal record just so old farts like me can tutt and shake their heads, whilst secretly wishing they were still rebellious youth. There is a village on a Greek island where they have a rocket battle every year. Look it up. That's proper bonkers. See, I can't make my mind up.​

I'm not bothered about Pyro but there are rules and they are there for a reason. I know it's all about the cult of me these days but you break the rules you should know what to expect.

Rather than moral purity, quite a few of the posts on here are very practical. My motivation is not to punish wrong-doers, but to look out for the physical well-being of thousands of people. Flares and fireworks are dangerous in a crowd, and anyone using them needs to be kept away from crowds, just as alcohol and driving are a lethal combination. Not bothered about prison, hanging and flogging, etc., but preventing people being a serious danger to others is a fully justifiable course of action.

Having seen a victim of an errant firework close up at a display in Blanes northern Spain screaming her head off out of what remained of her face I tend to go down the ban all pyro equipment except under extremely controlled use. . Id ban all firework sales purely for frightening pets

Burns never heal fully and anyone throwing incendiary devices deserves a ban

I recently stepped into a domestic ruck in New Orleans while my colleague called the police. What I want to know is why the fuck wouldn't you? You don't think whether the guy is tooled up or not you go help. Fucks sake there is a life at stake. So reporting some cock who wants to potentially set fire to the place? Yeah I'd do that.
 
Good point made about attitudes being age related, we all (well most) do daft things as teenagers and frown upon them years later

As a kid we took 'bangers' to throw about on the kop (60s/70s) Remember a mate threw one and it landed on the rim of a trilby hat worn by a middle aged bloke. The banger went off and blew the mans hat off his head. We all laughed until the bloke and his mate came over and gave us all a slap - instant justice, happy days

I choose to look after my own by not standing by and watching when innocent, fellow 'family' members are abused and sworn at by the classless, disgusting minority who decide that their idea of a good time should supersede everyone else's. Then think they are perfectly justifiable in ruining people's day by claiming that as we are all family, it's ok and that because of some unwritten code none of said family should dare to challenge or disagree.

It's not ok. That's why it's not allowed. It's not about killing an atmosphere or stitching someone up. It's about common decency. There's a time and a place for setting off pyro technics and in my opinion, it's not in a crowd full of people. Only my opinion mind. You have yours and I have mine and never the twain shall meet.

The particular poster who I quoted has riled me by escalating various annoyances being discussed in this thread into the insinuation that I would be OK with people reverting to prehistoric terrace racism. This is pathetic and he can do one as far as I am concerned.
