The Big Gun (Wicker)

A real friendly pub. Grumpy behind the bar (sign says that) didn't know anything about Cannon Brewery though even though the Stones he sells was nice and creamy. I went in for a pint on the way to Tesco Extra and another pint on the way back.

Back to serious pub recommendations, the top end of London Road is usually welcoming to away fans, with good boozers and beer. The Crown and the White Lion, the Sheaf and the Brothers Arms on the back streets, 10 minutes walk to the stadium and a bit out of the way of the bigger crowds

It must be hard for Wrexham fans to separate the 'joke' recommendations from the real ones.

Basically, avoid pubs on London Rd and near the ground (with the possible exception of the Beer Engine). You should be fine at most places in the city centre and Kelham Island, as long as you don't act like twats.

Sheffield Tap, which is on the station, is a great shout with fantastic beer. No football shirts allowed but if you cover up you will be fine. It has an entrance on Platform One, and an entrance and beer garden facing the main road outside the station. You'll also be fine in the Howard, the mock-tudor pub opposite. From there, you can continue up the hill to the city centre or head past the Showroom cinema towards the ground.

Trams run every 10 mins from the train station into the city centre and Shalesmoor (for Kelham island). If you return by tram, Sheffield College is the closest stop to the stadium (10 mins) but from most places in the city centre it's quicker to walk to the ground.
