Project Restart - Hoping for 8th June

There is literally fuck all chance of football resuming in June.

If every day we are been told we cant see our families and friends and have to maintain social distancing - how on earth will it look to the general population that we are letting 22 men kick a football about in close proximity? Surely if any of the public are then caught breaching the guidelines they'll have a valid argument to say well football players are allowed to congregate.

I to am dubious about the figures presented each day as someone has said earlier, if I presented my monthly stats and said, some data is from yesterday, some is from last week and some from last month but this is the data - I'd be sacked but it is what it is and its showing hundreds are dying so the Government have decided we all need to stay at home.

Exceptions to this will not be multi millionaire football players however much we want it to be so.

We are about half way between it stopping and the proposed come back. Lots could happen. The numbers will be lower than today although social distancing will still be a thing. Footballers would probably have to spend a month or so away from family.

Does feel a little early to me as there is so much to sort out and figure out how or if European competitions can get done and how the EFL gets by with no crowds for promotion and relegation issues out of the premier league.

A logistical headache for sure.

Not quite the same as not seeing families.
Football is Job and income for so many not just the players and coaches etc but others not directly associated with football like people who work for Bookmakers.
Would 22 players running around a football field be any worse than people working in Supermarkets, DIY stores, Fast Food Restaurants.

Well I could use the same argument and say why cant i see family but can stand next to strangers in a car park

Going to the local shop to buy a tin of beans ‘presents challenges’ at the minute. It’s a none story.

Quite agree, they say all this, show a picture of Police on Horseback keeping an eye on fans pre-virus !! Dont they know what "behind closed doors means" ?

"Playing all those fixtures [in the original venues] would present challenges," said Roberts. "That's an awful lot of people moving around the country.

Is it really though. Have they actually sat down and thought of the number of people required realistically. "Present challenges to the emergency services". What emergency services would you need at a ground with no fans (clubs already have medical staff for players), no concourse staff, no hospitality staff, no one in boxes. Groundstaff what 10 ? Players 22 plus subs ? Minimum Backroom staff 20 ? Cameramen and tv lot ? 20 ? 200 per match maybe ? Its not an awful lot of people moving round the country. Makes me laugh when there is no credibility in the article whatsoever.

If they had said we've asked each PL club how many staff inc players would be required and collated the figures and it comes to around 4000 people. ""That's an awful lot of people moving around the country" then you might have thought, yes I guess it is, or out of 60M not a lot really.

Not arguing whether it should go ahead or not just pee's me off when they say things like "That's an awful lot....." and never say how many or justify the finger in the air quoting.

Thats bollocks, instead of having 1 team at home and the other travelling, lets have both travelling to a Neutral ground

Fuckwits

The players still have to travel to home matches! They don’t live at Bramall Lane! 😂

yep, have done ...... illuminate me
JOC and Lundstram commute from Liverpool, I think Hendo is based nearer Manchester, Didsy lives in Nottingham (not sure if that’s nearer Leicester than Sheffield tbh)

I think McB is up near Leeds so nowhere near a PL ground 😂.

Besic probably lives near Liverpool.

Bash probably lives near Newcastle but just jogs from his house and back every day, just to keep fit as the training doesn’t really tire him.

I think you ought to take the "thinks" and "probablys" out :)

and lets look at that

The ‘thinks’ were generally an attempt at humour as I don’t want to get into an argument over trivialities.

You said ‘all’. I’ve demonstrated that some don’t. I win the internet. Thank you and goodnight.

Have sides stay at hotels for a month. Have 3 or 4 grounds with 3 games a day. Bang them out.

Cant disagree with that, but usually the last day of fixtures kick off at the same time .... that would need some sorting out, so no one gains an advantage

Which I fink would be possible

Ban phones... Be like cricket where they don't allow players phones on match day due to spot fixing

322 was the total at the ground to cover a match on TV. Think it was on BBC website recently but can't locate the article. Queues that size for some shops etc with 2m distancing. I take your point though, a quandary based on unknown. Glad I'm not in the Government.

The chances are there will be teams with nothing to play for (ok a few extra quid for a higher finish but not Europe or relegation).

Looking at the fixtures, I’m 99% certain Newcastle vs Liverpool and Man City vs Norwich will have nothing riding on them, so straight away we’re down to only 8 matches needing to kick off at the same time and I’m sure there will be at least one or two more with nothing to play for..

I liked gabby agbonlahors solution ,give Liverpool the title and no one up or down

Wonder how he came up with that ?

Not seeing anyone mention the fa cup....

Daily mail reporting EFL increasingly likely to go on a positions as is method meaning pigs points deduction will have to be next year.

Can anyone tell me how playing matches behind closed doors and/or at neutral venues BEFORE THE COUNTRY COMES OUT OF THIS OFFICIALLY will stop 30,000 Liverpool fans taking to the streets around Anfield when they win the league?

So the Mayor of Liverpool has just come on board with my post from the end of March?

Germany put back return at least a week but with infections rising there not a shock.
