If you had worked at another club where the DoF had either made your life difficult or had been less than supportive, then you would probably want a clause in your contract to state that you wouldn't work under such an arrangement

Adkins has had his biggest successes under exactly this structure. The Reading situation got messy because of false promises from the now ex chairman. At United we have an old fashioned structure , yet with lots of boardroom interference, and none of them seem to have the practical skills to get things done (the worst of both worlds). A dof should at least stop the numpties getting involved in football matters and Adkins will understand this. The backers at Southampton were very distant. Personally, I prefer the old school approach but we simply don't have the boardroom.

Seems fine to me:

It's funny how some people who are against Adkins think differently on a poll like this because deep down we all know the clubs next managerial appointment will be done on t'cheap.

I've just listened to the full interview on FH and he seems more himself but on that video less so, maybe just me reading things into it.
It's what half of sacking a manager is, no point getting rid if you can't improve it with a better appointment. I doubt Rotherham would have gotten rid of Redfearn if Warnock wasn't available.

Adkins is that positive most of the time and if he does get depressed it's only noticable when his team hasn't bothered to turn up against the likes of Bury.

Adkins needs time in my opinion. I think that we are inconsistent but on Saturday I said that in the last 3 home games. I believe we are on the right road. This horrible season / stability should pay dividends next season

& swapping again would be madness. Because that also might put stop to the clearance we need as new manager will want to review his squad. So we will still majority of crap next season

Has our expectation levels sunk so low that that we keep a manager just because we've recently had a large turnround of managers and because he did a good job at two other clubs, a few years ago. From what I have witnessed from Adkins this season, there is no good reason to keep him. There is no evidence that he has improved the team in anyway. The league position is worse than when he was appointed. He appears to have lost the majority of the dressing room and morale amongst the fans is at an all time low. We are Sheffield United, mid table in League One is not good enough. I dont care how many managers we have previously sacked, get rid now I say. I doubt there is anyone out there who could have done a worst job this season and there are plenty who would have done a lot better. Like him or not, does anyone really believe that we would not have been higher in the League if Clough had not been sacked.
Adkins budget next season will be less than this season, so he is going to have to wheel and deal and find some unknown gems, however his signings on the whole so far have been terrible. The other problem is that after signing new low budget players at the end of the season, Adkins will then have to motivate and manage these players, in a way that gets the maximum from them. On the evidence of what he has displayed this season, this again appears to be a problem.
The club needs a new start. Lets put this disaster of a season behind us. Wilder or Cotterill in, with Dave Bassett as Director of Football. New management and coaching team and new players.Cant wait for next season if this happens..

Lose one and it's sack them all.

Win one and it's "can't keep changing managers"

Whenever we lose the next one it'll be sack them all again.

Make your minds up. I don't suppose it's anything new for football supporters to be fickle.

Are you for real?

The guy who on August 1st said "Nigel Adkins must be kept for this season no matter what" and by October at the very latest, was calling for him to be sacked?

Ever so slight difference between changing opinion after every, or certainly most games, and changing it once in October and sticking with it ever since.

So after 100 votes, 76% are game for keeping the gaffer.

Either the Adkins Out brigade are all at the pub, or the number of people genuinely wanting this particular change has been drastically overestimated
I think it's more to do with the last result and uber fickleness myself.

Another poll after we lose one and it'll swing t'other way no doubt.

That result was a week ago.
If there was another poll right after a loss that might be the case but a week after I don't think so. Maybe a change of at most 10% on here. Lose a few more and you'll see it drop drastically.
