I can think of an awful lot of reasons why we would bring him back...

Multiple EFL promotions on his CV, knows the players, knows how to motivate them, knows how to connect the fans with the players / coaches...
There would definitely be a galvanising effect which is badly needed.
This ^^^^^^^ Especially the bit in bold.

Bringing him back what would be the point really?

There are other managers out there that would also be able to get us up the table too.
What an ambitious club we are.About as much vision as Sheffield council.
Yeah, let's stay in the familiarity of our comfort zone🙄.
Fucking tinpot.🫣

What a complete mess the Yanks have made of the club clearly they have about as much idea of running a UK football club as I would running a US NFL outfit. We can forget the likes of Nuno or Dyche coming to manage us so what other options is there, Wilder for all is faults (and there are plenty) is looking to be an attractive option, out of the rest I'd be looking at Rohl after he saved the shower of S6 crap from relegation and then had them mid table under very difficult circumstances. You think finances are tight now just wait till the end of this season COH have already wasted a fortune.

The owners really do need to learn fast what is required to run a club in one of the worlds most competitive leagues, here's an idea for them there is a bloke who would like a bit of involvement in SUFC knows the club and what makes it work far better than some online poker player. Pick the phone up and speak to the guy in Saudi.

In the long run I think going back cap in hand to Wilder will be another huge mistake for the Yanks he would think he is un sackable and would have them by the bollocks ready for another pay off when things don't go his way. No man is bigger than the club despite what Wilder thinks, the trouble is the owners have painted themselves into a corner Wilder is probably the easiest way out for them but not what is best for the club. Quick fix springs to mind.

The saddest thing about this situation is how it exposes our new owners as complete knuckle heads. No proper due diligence re the Selles appointment ( they seem genuinely shocked by how bad it was yesterday) yet, they appointment the guy. No plan B, this approaching Wilder stuff just smacks of panic buying. They really don't know much about football let alone how to run a

So Mr Ambition, please tell who we should have appointed?
Not a clue mate, not my job.I'm very good in a Kitchen,I'm quite good at writing kids stories, got a first at uni at age 55,ran my own Landscaping biz in NZ and can lay bricks.
I've done alot in my life but I'm no Chairman.
Does that mean I don't know what ambition looks like?🙏

The Eyes have it, the Eyes have it

The Ayes have it, the Ayes have it

The i’s have it, the i’s have it

The hives have it, the hives have it

Happy with CW, sausage or Mousinho from that lot. There was a time I'd have been very happy with Dyche but seeing him last season I'd fear he was burnt out. Mousinho would be a significant gamble. Sausage makes sense due to play style: If they're determined to play high press football he did it with a w ank squad. It shouldn't really be a conversation as Wilder did a fantastic job last season. He should've been building on his partial rebuild this summer.

i hate my self for saying this. because it irrates me that you have go back to mid 90s for last "outsider" that was successful in the league. espically as i thought it was time for him to go

but it probably does have to be wilder. just for some passion & to survive relegation. then DOF, to advise the board. as his knowledge of sheffield united culture could be invaluable

Wilder told the board to get Cooper. They went for Slav.

Thats not quite accurate and I’ll start a thread when I have time explaining the process. They’ve made a mistake but are quickly acting to correct it.

Much bigger clubs than ourselves, those with alot of football knowledge and DOF's have found it difficult to replace managers .
The recent squad investment should make it easy to persuade a capable manager to take the helm .
Lots of blame being thrown around at Selles , the board ,the players ..sometimes its just not a fit .

Yep, I get that now. I posted before any of these reparations were evident. Still not confident going forward though.
