Your 'coaxing' worked blackydog . I was talking to the missus about it expecting her to tell me it was far too much to pay and she said I should do it, so I've booked it.

So I'll be on the away team, strolling about and pulling strings in the middle of the park..... in my dreams.

Yes, I have to admit, I'm quite excited about it now.
One thing I need to ask though, I don't have any footie boots, just my astro-turf ones I use at Goals, so do the instructions stipulate boots?
I'll be happy to play anywhere in midfield, although I could play left-back at a push.

I'd better lay off the beer and wine this week then!

I have a spare pair of boots. Will try and remember to bring them. Size 9s. But they are proper studs and I don't think the Desso takes a full stud in mid winter never mind summer

You can probably pick up a cheap pair of moulded boots from Decathlon for £10 to £15

Thanks Mcgrath. I suspect so long as they don't soak the desso like they do just before kick off on match days we should be ok with astros. I have heard the desso plays "firm".

It's part artificial grass isn't it?

Yep, real grass plus artificial blades of grass pushed into the ground (to 20cm I think i read)

The grass is pretty short and the ground seemed firm almost two years ago when I had a tour if the lane

I spoke to the lady that's organising it yesterday and you can just turn up, it's quite casual, as long as you make a 'donation'. Platinum Suite entrance.

Love the debate on boots. Tried mine on for the first time in 20 odd year and they are too small (I've done a bit of running in between). So in a mad panic went to sports direct to by the cheapest black boots that fit (black because, well you will see). 19 quid later I have a pair of boots that are as trendy as free school meals apparently! At least you will be able to work out who I am. Oh I'm on the home team. Looking forward to it.
