Players fault.............

Just listened to the Blackie interview. This isn't a pro Blackie post. But....Was he wrong in what he said about the players?

By the sound of it, the players did bottle it yesterday, just like they did at the end of the season at Palace.

I don't like us changing the formation home and away, but it worked last season albeit with different players.

At Forest he started with the 4-4-2 but we conceded early, so perhaps he wanted to start with the 4-5-1 yesterday and switch later (which sounds like what he did)

The why's and where's of dropping Camara for Quinn etc are being discussed elsewhere, but a team that created plenty of chances the week before couldn't manage it away.

So whilst I think Blackies drowning and should take more responsibility for his own actions etc, the players have to stand up and be counted.

I think most people would agree that players have to accept responsibility, that much is obvious to me. The problems as I see it is a manager who, far from trying to spark a response, seemed more interested in a simple attack on their professionalism and ability - which in private is fine but I don't think it helps in public. I'm all for managers speaking their mind and having a pop at daft questions but if it aint injuries it's a alck of funds, next week it'll be something else.

There's something to be said in terms of Blackwell is partly not responsible once the players step on to the pitch. BUT he picked these players and signed most of them. Then went on to say that he basically he wouldn't have signed them had he had more ammunition in the transfer market.

How must this make the players feel? If proof were needed Blackwell is an egotistical useless prick this is it. Leigertwood was quoted this week as saying how good Warnock is at making players feel 10 feet tall. Our lads will feel about as tall as Ronnie Corbett after hearing what he's said.

I'm not making excuses for Blackie, I just think he has a point.

I don't agree with making comments in the media about them, but I really think the point that needs emphasising is that regardless of who signed them and he got them because there was nothing else available... The same players can do it at home but not away.

Assuming that they all work very hard on the training ground, they're paid well and when the manager puts faith in them, they just don't do it.

If I was in his shoes I'd be pretty p1ssed off with them.

Ben Watson said something very similar ahead of Saturday's game, also saying NW was the best manager he's played under. Being a successful manager effectively boils down to three attributes in my mind:

- tactical knowledge
- shrewdness in the transfer market
- man management

Blackwell's by no means the worst manager we've had on the first two - we have been able to play, at times, some good stuff, and certain signings (e.g. Jamie Ward) have been pretty decent. But on the last factor, we've heard quite a lot to suggest through rumour and via interviews from those that have left that he is particularly lacking on the last point. Which isn't so much of an issue if you're doing well, but when things start to go wrong you need someone to pick people up. Saying that he wouldn't have signed half the people in a perfect world doesn't exactly help, even if he does believe it to be true.

My reply was to your comment 'Are you watching Mr McCabe ,have a look at the opposing dug outs next saturday and cry ,you fool.' but came onto the thread at the end so seemed a bit detached.

When Blackwell managed Dirty Leeds he had a simple transfer policy--- To sign the players Neil was interested in. We are a club treading water and in my view that will not change under the present Chairman or Manager.

I think Ward, and the gamble on Chedwyn were basically under the remit of signing young, developing players with a resale value, a long standing tradition at SUFC. I think we're back to the dark days of signing young players already with a view to the profit they potentially will reap rather than to build a team around.

Normally I'd wait to listen myself before passing comment, and if i get chance I will do so after I have, but reading Foxy's summary requires a response.

I trust his judgement, and as such if that is a true reflection of what was said, Blackie is a disgrace. You simply don't absolve all responsibility, and wash dirty linen in public at the same time.

>Forwards lack bottle and wont put the boot in
well he's not on about camara then.. he was on the bench.. bench.. camara on the bench with that nitwit quinn in his place.. the telegraph told me he had left... and he's still here .. sob. i can't believe it..
look lads i'm sorry but i don't buy this road team lineup shit. it is the same game.. same rules what difference does it make? do they increase gravitational field strength for the away team
lenners is right. the radio moron interview let slip what they actually think.. ie. they privately agree with the fans but the beeb are making them cosy up to the club for broadcasting rights

>a long standing tradition at SUFC
you're not wrong mate.. the 'real' blades academy

Blamewell running out of excuses, yesterday was a shambles against a very poor side.

He's a fucking joke nowadays, many of us were getting pissed off at his excuses in November but he's just continued down that route.

This interview in particular is shockingly bad. I'd absolutely love to see players coming out on radio and saying things along those lines about him and see his reaction. Bellend.

That is a diabolical interview. "We know what we're missing".

Well, that's your influence which can change things, Don't hide. The rest is too poor to even comment about. Shooting from the hip? Almost certainly. Acceptable comments?

Not in the slightest.

Does he EVER accept responsibilty for ANYTHING?

Grow a pair Blackwell!!

I fear next season will be one of struggle as there is no chance of the POs this sason & Mr Birch will be swift in his 'reprofiling' next season.
