Be good to get the youngsters signed up that management deem as worthy of a new contract.

Of the first team players, there are no players that we desperately need to get under contract.

The list of players l referred to contained a few more than the rather obvious four you cherry picked. But let’s stick to those. I find it hard to believe the situation isn’t being closely monitored and that the idea of an across the board ban or freeze on contract negotiations as policy is somewhat fanciful.

As for what l believe, not having the facts leave me sitting on the fence rather than pushing an assumption to believers. At no time on this thread have l supported - or blamed - anyone. I simply suggested that the club may be looking at further development on a list of players, padded out, let’s be honest, by some, unless we’re lucky, that will be moved on anyway. There is no “the board is right” from me because l, like you, do not know any official policy.

Egan is a funny one. I recognise his defensive ability (although this season start has been bad for him) but he also has so many limitations. Especially on the ball. He’s one of the main culprits for turning over possession to the other team. I would like to see us with a more composed CB to lead that back line with him becoming more of sub.

Not against Mcb getting a new contract whatsoever.

However feel it's written in the stars he'll join Rangers on a free especially if we look like getting relegated.

Let's hope our main focus is on these contracts now, I know the transfer market was busy for Hecky.
 
I mentioned sorting contract for example Egan and Baldock to DS, his reply was plenty of time for those, not unusual for ones in their 30s to be on shorter contracts

What …..you think Lowe deserves a new contract….and Osborn??
Agree on Egan but he’s probably in the ‘must give him a contract’ territory due to having a value….unlike Lowe & Osborn

I think osborne is a decent squad player. Started the season well before injury. He’s handy. I would extend it for a year whilst we level up the quality of the squad relegated him to a sub position and then ultimately phased out. Similar situ for Lowe.

First thing - some people on here :mad: its like a game of fuckin whinge whinge wack a mole -were shit - got promoted - players out of contract - sign contracts, cant believe they resigned Osborn - great incomings - players out of contract - ffs, at any point do you not get a feeling that contrary to your perception, those at the top do know how to run this club?

Anyway onto contracts - 2 factors, who owns us, which division were in

Stay up this season
scenario 1 - weve been taken over by someone wanting to invest
keep Wes as back up to a new GK, possibly Egan, definitely Jebbo, Osula, McB, Marsh - rest go

scenario 2 - weve not been taken over and still in Prem
as above but add Baldock, RND, Egan definitely, Norwood

Go down this season
scenario 1 - with a takeover and budget
same roster with PA as owner in the prem

scenario 2 - PA still here
resign all bar Lowe & Fleck

so the problem is we need direction before we sign them all up = imagine resigning them all, then a big investor comes in, we stay up and we have Osborn, Bash & Lowe on 3 year deals, crackers

Are we going to sign anyone to a new contract soon? Didn’t see much of the Prince’s much heralded “players in the last year of their contract are much more committed” on Saturday. I thought we were going to start addressing contracts once the window had shut.

We’re leaving ourselves open to a huge rebuilding job in the summer with no money / drastically reduced budget to do it.

Its not really 'cashing in' though is it Steve/Prince? Its hard for a player to want to sign a new contract when there is a firesale going on and there is no ambition. What It basically means is that you trash another season and slip even lower. Our owner needs to knock £50M off the asking price for the club at minimum.
