The first 15-20 minutes will be key IMHO.
If we can nick a goal early then its all to play for and will give us a much needed boost and knock their confidence immensely.
In the first game, they played the perfect away game. They sat in and kept it tight and narrow without committing too many players forward but when they got the ball, they countered very quickly with their front 3 and caused us a lot of problems.
they didn't have any real spells where they dominated the ball or penned us in but on chances created, we were very lucky to go in at half time at only 1-0 down. That being said, they were very lucky not to have had a penalty against them for Garner mauling Berge. How the 4 officials missed that is amazing!!
Second half, we started well and dominated the play for the first 20 minutes but didn't have the cutting edge up front. MGW was well off the pace, Berge couldn't get any space and Ndiaye looked to have stolen Adrian Littlejohn's legs, he was that bad!!!!
They got the second against the run of play and were always dangerous on the counter attack.
We got a stroke of luck with our goal where we made a set piece work.
At their place we need the likes of MGW and Ndiaye to have an impact on the game and show their undoubted ability. They didn't do that in the first leg.
I would also say that Fleck was largely a spectator in the first leg and when he did get the ball he tended to give it away. Is the second game one where we give Hourihane a game?? There is little between them.
Either way, I will be setting my alarm to get up at 2.30 to watch the game before heading off to work for a 12 hour shift.
Here's hoping that it will be a happy shift!!!!!
