Sharp - only if he wants to leave

This. We can’t afford to buy proven goal scorers so pushing one out would be insanity.

We have no hier to his position in waiting. That’s what we need to address this summer.

£10m on its own won't afford you a "top quality striker", let alone the other 2 positions.
No way will be pay 5 million for a striker never mind 10.
The wage structure would be out of line. Not the Wilder way ,steady progression for the squad would be the ideal.
10 million £ players would destroy team spirit

I know; that's my point

In case we stay in the Championsship here some names from Ajax who would be a great addition to the squad I think:

Mitchell Dijks (AFC Ajax, leftback, Fee: Free transfer. Not sure If he would be down since he rejected Norwich last year, but last summer and this winter he couldn't find a club so maybe he lowers his demands.)

Noussair Mazraoui (AFC Ajax, allround midfielder, can also play in the attack or at the right back position if needed. Fee: Free transfer. This guy would be an outstanding signing and would be one of the best players from Sheffield United instantly I think. If you offer him a decent amount of money and a good perspective you should be able to sign him.

Kaj Sierhuis (AFC Ajax, striker Fee: Loan. All-round striker who just scores goals and goals and goals. Don't think he's ready for Ajax 1 next season, especially if Dolberg stays with us so he would be available for loan.

Not as daft as (some) might think, not just signing overseas players, but utilising the loan system. In the lower leagues in England, more and more teams have at least one player who is on loan from higher clubs who is pivotal to their team. McBurnie at Barnsley (on loan from Swansea) and Ivan Toney at Scunthorpe (Newcastle) are just two examples. This is inevitable as the higher-up teams sign up the more promising players but can't fit them all into the first team. It's good for the player, the club they're registered to and the loaning club. Not all will 'work out' (John Cofie) but are easier to 'move on' without being contracted, but some do and it can put us in 'pole position' to sign him at the end of his loan spell. Conor Coady is a prime example...

Pigs seem to have been lucky over the years with loans, us less so. Ben Marshall, Wickham, Fryatt, Barkley.

We’ve had Cahill and Coady in recent years. Any more decent ones allude me. Avoid Man U players is my request to our manager.

CHED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cannot see Fleck getting in ahead of any of the promoted teams side. JoC I can get into some sides even bottom end premier sides. Brooks hasn’t shown enough since injury to get a move in this window.

To be fair I think it’s best to do this soon as we know what division we are in.

Brayford (until he got a contract...), Jon Harley? Kyle Bartley?

The pigs prove my point. Yes they've had a few 'names' on loan but then spend fortunes on useless has-beens (Boyd, Rhodes, Fletcher). And they let a player out on loan (Winnall) who's outscoring their own players. And they're losing Hirst as they don't know what to do with him.

It's all about having a mix and loan players' wage demands wouldn't unsettle the other players as much as a permanent signing.

From our 'first team'. If we're looking to finish high up in the table we should be looking to bring in improvements on:

Basham - In the system that we play, his fitness isn't an issue, he'll bomb up and down all day long and get into good positions. He is however very poor on the ball, and scuppers out attacks too often. We'll need better here.

Stevens - In the first half of the season he was very good. I hope he'll get back to that form, but with Lafferty likely to move on, we should be looking for someone better. It's crucial that we recruit well in this position, as our wing backs are vital to the way we play.

Strikers - We're relatively strong in this area, but I expect if things continue as they are, Billy could leave, and Wilson is unlikely to stay. It'll take some serious graft from our team to unearth a gem here, but we're going to have to. (Unless Ched starts firing cliché.)

I'm confident that we have a very strong base of players. Our midfield is strong, and will only improve with the return of Coutts. Stearman and JOC are quality, and we have a nice mix of attacking players.

It's exciting to watch us build and improve. I expect us to continue doing so in more or less the same fashion during the summer.

Basham has the most successful dribbles as a percentage of any defender in the league. He’s been one of our best performers this season and has an outstanding partnership with Baldock.

Enda is a decent Championship wing back, needs to work on his defending but I think you’d blow the budget trying to replace him with a better player. Unless you pluck another player from the leagues below.

It has to be a centre forward with pace, plus another striker on loan. And a decent goalkeeper if Blackman doesn’t come back.

That is shocking, maybe players just let him gallop forward because they know he'll do fuck all at the end of it?

He reminds me of a bloke I play five a side with sometimes, he takes these massive strides with huge touches, yet manages to retain it more often than not.

I like him, he's clearly not the problem. But he's not that good at football. He does have his brilliant games though.

I'd add Donaldson and Ched (loan) to the departures list along with possibly Wright and Holmes depending on who we bring in.

As for incomings, I'd be aiming for 6 or 7, something like this to give us a strong, compact squad...

Jamal Blackman - Loan
John Egan - £1m - 1.5m
Jack Robinson - Free
Ben Marshall - £1.5m - 2m
Sammy Ameobi - Free
Ollie McBurnie - Loan
Mohamed Eisa - 500 - 750k

And if that level of spending is beyond us then God help us.

I reckon we could have about £2m to spend.. maybe increasing to £5m if Brooks is sacrificed to the Premiership alter.

Must not sell Fleck or JOC though, that’s crucial.

We need to identify an ageing (i.e. experienced) midfielder with premiership class and the right attitude. Someone in the McCall/Speed bracket. Give them a coaching job too as an incentive. We're always moaning about lack of quality but there must be loads in the Prem looking for the transition into management. It won't cost a bomb (main box ticked), saves us dicking around scouring L1&2 and it's worked for us before.

Agreed. If we sell Fleck (the heartbeat of the side) having got him on a long term deal then we may as well all give up.

I can't imagine we'd be able to attract some of those.
