Peck

I thought Sydie Peck had a really good game against decent opposition.
Moved it on well, got a foot in when it was needed and joined in attacks.

Would love to know the XG on his chance on the edge of the area. Probably about 0.05.
"Should have scored."
Certainly grew into the game struggled first 30

Not massively convinced by him tbh. Looks a tidy player but not much more than that to my eyes. We definitely require an upgrade.

He had time to compose and put it on target. He is a professional player and maybe cost us a couple of points.
Don’t talk out of your arse,he was 20 yards out. Maybe he should have done a keepy uppy for a couple of seconds, tapped it up onto his shoulder the hammered in the top corner,he had plenty of time to do that.

0.08 xG according to Fotmob.

Peck is a young lad who, if we'd not had injuries and had money would likely have been out on loan in league 1 until Christmas (like Arblaster).

I think he was better than Souza today but he's suspect at times. Needs too long on the ball. Not strong enough. Not great at tracking runs.

He's going to make mistakes. He's going to be inconsistent.

But he's doing incredibly well, as is Seriki, One, Brooks etc considering.
Totally agree the lad has been chucked in the deep end and is doing ok.

Brooks seems to have gone backwards and is struggling to get a much of a look in.

One was poor today admittedly in tough circumstances and probably wouldn't be near the 1st team if it wasn't for injuries.

Seriki is a funny one is positioning is really poor sometimes and he can look like bambi on ice with the ball, looks better going forward.

Not writing them off they are young lads and have been called upon due to injuries and our thin squad
Just think we need improvements if we are going to trouble the top two come the end of the season.

We have to remember that we're top of the Championship and these lads have played a part in this.

I wonder if something has gone on with Brooks. He's gone from being relied on to being essentially shunned (can't think of another word for it when Brewster comes on ahead of you).

Peck is getting his first proper run in the first team (I don't think he's ever had a run of games like this season) at the top of the championship, he'll have games like this all season but he'll be a better player for it come the end of the season.

Brooks has gone from being our first choice RW to playing sporadically, think Brewster coming on instead of Brooks was so we could get an extra striker on to try and win the game, rather than anything to do with Brooks himself. I reckon we'll see him involved in some capacity against Millwall and Plymouth (2 games in 4 days)

I was told weeks ago that , unfortunately, Brooks is after a move. If so, would be a great shame for a Unitedite like him to leave us, especially after
such a great start to the season.

Peck had a better game than souza, some nice touches and passes, although I feel his best games this season has been where hes come off the bench.

Don't get how some people can slate him today didn't really do a great deal wrong against vastly experienced and strong opposition.

Am I the only one who thinks he was poor today ? He should have scored in the first half at a crucial time and again in the second half when his fluffed effort lead to their equaliser.
Yes he does have qualities, but overall he is a weak link in our midfield.
MoM for me ahead of O’Hare

That's all true and I wouldn't try and change him but he also loses possession in dangerous positions when it looks harder to turn the ball over than just play a simple pass
I find it infuriating but like I say I wouldn't try and change him
I do question his fitness levels though, if he ever decides to squeeze every last drop out of his potential then he will need to. Work on this but what a player he could be
Hamer is quite frustrating , not because he is poor , but because he's kind of "settled" for the level he's at , whereas with more effort , he could be much better - he has the vision & skills.
As you say , he does turn it over.
He also commits petulant fouls + gets unnecessary yellows.
And he could gain a yard of pace.
Lots of pundits call him "one of the best midfielders in the Championship".
But he needs to raise his game if he wants to be a PL regular.

As for Peck , I think of him as part of a cohort including Seriki , McCallum , Brooks , Gilchrist , JRS , One.
All talented with great potential , but young men who are still learning.
We are lucky to have them.
But it is a big ask to develop them whilst also hoping they can carry us to promotion
In Peck's case , there is Davies with whom he can share minutes - I would have given Davies some time today.
Or possibly start Davies at Millwall , and bring Peck on later if Davies is not up to 90 mins.

If I'm being honest, Peck worries me a bit. Think he's got great potential, but isn't ready for this role.

He isn't comfortable enough, which makes him generally too negative with the ball. Loads of times even in space he spins directly to passing backwards.

I think he's going to be a good midfielder, but at the minute (and it does pain me to say) he's our weakest link.

The problem for Peck is how do you follow Blaster, especially as you’re a different type of midfielder. I thought he was off it today not helped by possibly Souza’s worst game of the season. On the plus side O’Hare had his best game by a country mile

Think you are 100% spot on
Some good, some bad
Lacking consistency for me at the moment and his cheap give away ended up as the equaliser
Could develop into a top player, but if we get recruitment right in January, wont start as many games as he is doing right now.

We now know Souza carrying a hammy problem

Yep I’ve been a bit critical of him recently but he was excellent today. Maintained that physicality but was a lot slicker on the ball and managed to find more time and space when picking it up off the Center backs. Still playing a little bit too sideways (we miss Blasters directness) but that’s a minor quibble. Did a good impression of Vini today.
