Peck

I'd like to see him tried as a number 10 soon
I might be completely wrong but I just don’t see that from him. What I see is a hard working box to box midfielder who loves a tackle & could probably improve his ability going forward.

You think of our best 10s from recent times & you’d say - Duffy, NDiaye, MGW they all had more skill than Peck going forward. You could argue that Michael Brown was a similar player to Peck and he had that purple patch before we sold him but that took years to get out of him.

I think he’s a fantastic 8 and we shouldn’t change that.

I don't see 10 as his future position

But I see in him the ability to play that role at this level, maybe a bit unconventionally, and it could be the way to keep him in the team if at CM we have Souza, Davies and Morton to pick from for the rest of the season

A comparison could be Brownhill at Burnley, who is an 8 but can play further forward and has a knack of scoring regularly

Peck likes taking it on the turn, taking risks and getting in amongst things. He's powerful enough to hold off and get away from defenders in a way OHare certainly isn't and on paper has the attributes to score goals

Having him at 10 would give us the option of a very solid deeper 3 at any time and if we can get Brereton back for example, that would relieve much of the attacking and creative burden on him (but raise the question of who plays on the right)

If we’re promoted I think what you’re saying could work. But in games in the championship when we’re playing against teams that sit in I think Peck needs a bit more skill to take players on in small pockets of space.

We all expected a bit more from O’hare but he works ridiculously hard and he’s always winning those free kicks when he just knocks the ball past someone.

I think it would be a real shame to take the freedom of the full pitch away from Peck because his biggest strength is being a full blooded player with a great engine.

If I have one criticism of him, he could do with a bit more pace in defensive situations like you see from Souza. Sometimes we get hit on the break like we did against Leeds and he just isn’t quick enough to get back but I think in that situation Souza was off the pitch so there wasn’t any cover.

He's got a bit of the all action Connor Gallagher about him, just needs to add the goals.

Every good team needs a terrier in midfield who breaks up play, niggles away and gets the team up the pitch - he does all of that very well. I love the lad and, if he keeps his head down, learns and keeps improving, he’s destined for a big future.
Wilder made a jokey comment in a post match interview a few weeks back that SP thinks he should be playing for Real Madrid. I hope he ends up that good and we benefit along the way.

Game after game, week after week is totally dominated in midfield.

Sick of the love he gets just cuz he celebrates like a madman.

At fault for instigating losing possession cheaply for 2nd goal and contributes little.

Our midfield has been dominated every single game since he's started starting.

Loan or 3rd choice backup at best.

Nothing wrong with the love he gets, he's a blade and loves playing for the Blades.

I agree he's not quite at the level needed but I think he's our only option unless you put Hamer in their. Peck offers more defensively then Hamer does. I don't think the plan was for him to play as much he has already this season.

We are in need of a CM in this window.

Needs to learn to pass forward more … gets caught positionally and needs a loan at a league 1 club for a season

Hes in desperate need of a rest, looks mentally and physically tired, not getting around the pitchvwith that buzz he had when he was coming off the bench.
Yeah looked dead on his feet, but that’s understandable as he’s gone from U21’s to coming off the bench to all of a sudden being thrown in alongside Souza only for him to get injured and then Davies, so he’s learning fast and still holding his own. Tonight was probably a game too far for him though as hen was bolloxed

I stand by my previous comments. I don't get what others see in him. He's not consistent enough and has put in more poor performances than good. I get that he was rushed in and probably isn't ready, but the injury to Arblaster and Davies not being rushed back hasn't helped. He's positionally poor and too many teams run past him at ease putting the centre backs under pressure. His passing is woeful too. I didn't rate him in the development team and I still don't rate him now.

Agreed mate, apart from i think personally that game too far was about 3 games ago.

But I echo everything you said there, and me and mine have said exact same thing in conversation in past few weeks.

Hamer needs to replace Peck until Souza is back

He’s not good enough at the moment.

Could do with a loan move to a club further down the Championship.

Thought he did alright the other day (or was it Boxing Day.. games are melting into one) when he sat deeper in the Souza role

To be fair it was a real cock up, and made a mess of their 2nd goal (just after we equalise as well)

But in all fairness, when he looks up the only player he could pass too was robinson who had a man on him at the time (i think, not watched it back) and now after just watching whst robbo did for the 1st and bim not been the best footballer woth the ball at his feet, he had 2nd thoughts, which lead to him cocking up and losing possession.

- as say I've not seen it back so I may be corrected on that, (and I wouldn't want to or trust passing it back to robbo under pressure either).

I hope the club are working on a new contract with him. He signed one recently but as a promising young player. Due to the circumstance, he's now a regular.

It's very likely that he'll kick on next season (like Arblaster did after his first year) and as Wilder frequently notes he's not short of confidence. I would expect someone not short of confidence to maybe look for a better move should his game time be curtailed when players are back. This will be doubly so if he's earning a lot less than other senior players.

Whilst he's done well for a young lad in his first year, if we're honest he's hardly stood out.

He's no Arblaster and I don't think there's any particular worry about him moving on/ having bigger suitors, based on this season.

I think peck has a bright future, but he is just lacking going forward. And lacks composure to be relied apon to keep us in the top 2 . I’m not knocking him. He has done a great job keeping us ticking over the best he can. And gives everything on the pitch . He is just abit lacking at this point of his development for a top end championship midfielder.

Said it in shoutbox on matchday but he wasn't even born when Finding Nemo came out, after the Iraq War (#2) and after Facebook was created.

He's young and playing his first season of men's professional football and being asked to play for multiple consecutive games in the first team of a club at the top of the Championship, with aspirations on promotion and potentially a title.

He's having to play different roles depending on who's injured around him and for the most part, he's playing very well and leaving it all out on the pitch. Had a bit of a shocker yesterday but it happens, and it'll happen again. That's football.

I think he's doing just fine.

Needs a song though...Jimmy Mack anyone?

love his approach and attitude and seeming desire to achieve. Shouldnt really be starting often at this level just yet but needs must. Him getting caught in possession or having a bad touch and giving it away happens a lot, and has been caught out now for sunderlands 2nd and WBA equaliser. Its something that he needs to (and sure its getting hammered into him by senior pro's and coaching team) work on and just concentrate a little more. He'll get there and got to remember he's inexperienced trying to do an experienced players role
