Yep, quality player. Good first touchy and can't half play a pass. Him and Brayford tore the right hand side a new one in the first half. Pity they changed it at half time.

Gets better every game, thought he was superb today......

he is a quality player - although it has been mentioned even in his early days.

Some can't see a footballer in a million years of watching.

goodnight - forum seems to be in meltdown after a very unlucky loss today - some unbelievable comments on this site this evening - sad to read.

It's been a pleasure to watch him lately. The biggest positive at the moment is his improved performances and he now looks a key player for us.

Very unlucky to lose today Fulwood, but unlucky or not it was still more points dropped at home. Although the season isn't over you only have to look at the way a team like Gillingham are performing at home on a regular basis, if they are capable why shouldn't we expect the same ?. We cannot win every home game I know but, the way we fail at the Lane on a consistent basis is the reason why some of us go into meltdown. A great performance (particularly first half) spoilt by defending you would expect from a under 10's team.

Disagree about both , his mobility was top drawer in getting through a few challenges and brayford faded more than him late on (understandable)
Coutts was fucked and so was Brayford, although it's not suprising after the effort they put in.

I mean generally. He still seems a little slow off the mark to me.

Always rated Coutts...Last season he struggled with fitness..Clough kept playing him,and despite never being 100% fit you could see he was a quality footballer..great first touch, comfortable on the ball even in tight areas, clan see a pass...think he ended up playing 18 games and improved as the season went on,but got injured again at the start of this season, and again, seems to improve with more games under his belt...between him and Bash for MoM for me today.

Can only echo everyone else's comments - he played excellent first half and not too shabby in the second, even though he was fading. If we could get something similar happening on the left wing, and a proper partner for Billy, we would definitely start outscoring the opposition.

I'm on record over the months praising the technical gifts of Coutts and not many would ever deny that he is a quality player. There is a problem with his mobility and more importantly his fitness though.

As has been said before, teams can accommodate less mobile players and it is all about the blend of the team and the players picked alongside Coutts in midfield.

Then there is the fact that Coutts is blowing out of his proverbial in the last 20 minutes of most games. Yesterday he was really active first half so he was spent after an hour I'm afraid.

Why that should be I would not know. Maybe he is not able to complete full training to reach full relative fitness.

Yesterday he gave up tracking back and got loose in his play. Also the opposition in possession were far too quick for him and we were weak on his flank which was swapped occasionally and probably for that reason. Adkins does trust Woolford on the defensive duties.

As for team selection, Coutts out wide is good for Brayford but the blend with Hammond, Basham and Woolford is limited to say the least in the mobility and creativity departments against better teams.

Agree totally about the defending - BUT, some of us were banging on LAST AUGUST, and since. Everyone eventually accepted we had a problem around January/February time onwards.

The problem was then and it still is now.

Adkins wanted Burn in the club and it didn't happen. Not saying Burn would have solved the problem, but with a recognised centre back pairing back in August 2015, we would NOT be where we are now - IMHO.

The problem does not get resolved.

Having written that, we were very very unlicky, even if P'boro were a half decent team. They were lucky on the day - that's football.

The CH debacle is just and is still mindboggling - I like Edgar but still not totally convinced.

The 2 best players yesterday were Coutts - by some distance & their diminutive no.10.

Frustrating game, thought we played our best football of the season in the first half & should have had the game won at HT, Billy hitting the post, Edgar's header straight at the keeper & Basham's free header.

2nd half we started slow & failed to match the tempo we had in the first half, thought Long was at fault for the 2nd goal he jumps too early, their 3rd was preventable.

Immensely frustrating, can't keep shipping 3 goals at home & expect to put a consistent run together.

Hopefully remains consistent as thus far, he's had far more poor performances than good.

I know its about opinions but I think that is a load of rubbish ,you keep saying the saying the same thing like it will come true ,but I don't think there is an accurate sentence in that whole post.

As you say, it's all about opinions and having respect for the opinions of others of course, unless they become abusive.

One observation about the 2nd half performance and in particular that of the midfield 4,was that they struggled to create or open up P'boro - the balance of the team, once Sammon went off, changed, as did the requirements in order to play in Billy / Che but it didn't happen.
