Osborn gone

Should've been released last year but the absolute shit show that was the summer 23/24 transfer window meant he had to be kept out of necessity rather than need.

I bet he's also on more money than people might think. Signed as a premier league player so he'll have been on a fair whack. The money we would've spent on him flitting between the treatment table, the bench and filling in various holes can be spent on a player who's actually going to be a regular starter and contribute consistently to the team.

Nice bloke I'm sure but he's never been good enough in my eyes.

Good luck ben and thanks, especially last season when you didn't blubber into your shirt and cry for your mum like some did..

Exactly the wrong player to sell from a point of view about utility and covering..

Somethings clearly changed..

You promised you wouldn't tell...! 😭

Enjoy your summer everyone

Let’s see what unfurls

Fk em

This means one of two things.

Either the injury against spurs is going to keep him out for some time and it’s another blow to the threadbare squad or we’ve suddenly got more dough to spend and can afford to let him go.

Experience tells me it’s the former. :(

GLTTL. Nobody left in the side who reads books now.

He seems a nice lad and he always gave 100%, but the lack of quality or anything you can really pin on him to say that he’s good at, is a bit of a reflection of where we have been as a team, overall, for the past few years.

Players under contract, not for sale and over 23 years old

Grbic, Bogle, Trusty, Robinson, Hamer (may be for sale?), Davies, Brewster

That's it. For everyone gloating that Osborn has left, we'll need 3 or 4 players of his type just to fill the squad.

15 signings required?

With an 18 man matchday squad there is an argument that you now have enough room for specialists in their own right rather than the Swiss Army Knife types like Osborn.

Shocked tbh

If it was because of his injury record then why didn’t Wilder make that decision initially instead of now after saying he would take up his contract extension?

Has something gone off?

That's a shame.

I like the lad. He always gives 100% and covers a number of positions. A very handy player to have over a long Championship season.

Many on here will be delighted though. Another whipping boy who could never seemingly do anything right.

Good luck Ben, you've been a good servant for us.

Wilder always had him in his squad when fit ,to let him go at this stage ! Says we have an upgrade.
Always put in a shift wherever he played, just not good enough really and another player lacking pace.
That’s what I hope to be the case too.

To be honest I criticised Hecky for resigning everyone for our Premier League campaign. Wilder doesn’t even want them for his championship campaign.

But it’s about the replacement. If we go and sign a good left sided central midfielder and a good left wing back then it’s a positive.

My guess is Wilder wanted all of them plus Ozzy and the board would have said no.

I think it has more to do with, and I think we can all agree that Osborn should not be starting many premier league games as he did. Great utility player but he literally optimised our shambolic season and transfers.

Saying all of that, i am hoping he gets to play for derby and has asked to leave. Anything else is not cricket

I agree that the PL was too much for him as a regular starter, but as you say, as a squad player he was always handy to have around and we may well miss that versatility next season.

Good luck to the lad whenever he ends up.

I said we should probably keep him for numbers, he’s certainly performed better this season than in any other season.

But he’s never quite been good enough, he’s done well because of the number of positions he can be used.

And the above speaks more about how thin our squad has been at times.

He’s looked better than I expected in the midfield.

Good luck and thanks for the efforts

I hope he found a club who wants him to start every week and United have let him go and do that. Be a dick move if we've done it due to injury.

GLTTL

How is it a dick move if he's constantly injured. A dick move is offering injury prone players a contract? Am I missing something?

looks like it 58 maybe its harrison burrows coming in to compete with rnd and maybe finances have improved to enable us to get better ossie was always only going to be back up to rnd if we can get him fit

I would have kept him, money or no money, but his number one skill wasn’t availability.

I don’t see it as though the takeover is close that we have more money as a reason not to sign him.
