Ollie Watkins

None of them.

Just go raid the German, Italian and French leagues for that money.
Better players and at a higher level.

Wilson has too many serious injury problems that are due to come back to haunt him anytime soon.
King I’ve never been that impressed with.
And Watkins...scores goals in a creative Brentford side. Looks ok. Nothing more. And isn’t even so quick hed cause a problem to the better standard of defender in the premier league. Stay well clear at £10m never mind whatever fee Brentford have dreamed up

Spot on, reason why Maupay went for cheaper is because he's not english, just look abroad for players better value for money

I take my hat off to Brentford, if you’ve got a quality player you should get the highest fee possible.

The amount of times we heard the same old bollocks from McCabe after selling our best player “when the Premier League clubs come calling” etc etc. If the player is under contract, he leaves on the selling club’s terms, as Brentford are proving.

Exactly what I was highlighting in the Cash thread. Brentford FC are a rather small club compared to many in the Championship and yet they stand firm when offers come in for their players especially their forward players.

I think they sold Jota for around £6mil to Birmingham City when he only had 1 year left on his contract.

Who knows, but I think within the next 3-4 seasons we’ll be able to compete with the bottom half teams and if BushBlade is on the money with the Leicester model, I think even higher if we’re selling a £60M player each season.

I think i've said on another thread but I'm not sure the lack of us paying higher wages is necessarily down to the board but more Wilder. I truly believe that if the right player, a real game changer, became available the board would sanction both the fee and the extra wages. It was even muted when HRH took full control he wanted an true marquee signing. I'm sure it was Richard Cadette who posted it at the time. I'm just not sure Wilder would be happy with that as he holds squad harmony above almost everything else.

As an example using the Leicester model. Say we sell a £60m player each season and replace with a £30m player which in theory gives us £30m to play with the wages. Do you think Wilder would sanction that £30m player coming in on say £70k a week if it was nearly double what our highest earner was on?

I'm really not sure he would.

It helps that their owner is absolutely minted.

Not only that, he doesn't run the club like a desperate basket case. Small affordable steps, improving each season. Patience, smart spending, great development, good scouting. As a club, I actually admire them hugely and wish more championship clubs would look at them and think, yep, this is how to do it.

Apparently Spurs now interested.

Maybe Dean Smith might have to ask Wilder for some more recommendations.

Thought Spurs were in for Wilson.
Neither are good enough to partner Kane if they really want to push on though so it would be a bad move for all parties if either player picked Spurs.

Wilson chosen Newcastle over villa and spurs look set to.snap up Watkins

Now you know how it feels Dean Smith you twat

Unfortunately this just give Smith two more opportunities to gazump our forward signings.

I’d be happier if they had got one of their targets - stop them thowring an extra 5m at Liverpool for say Brewster....

Yeah never thought of that ,although I instantly thought if them when I saw Chelsea have just given batshayui a new contract and will loan him out to any club who will pay his 100k a week wages

28Million Christ

How much would moose be worth if we managed to get him fit and firingt 50/60 Million

28m is ridiculous money I like Watkins but 28m is just absolutely obscene amount I would rather CWAK shop about in the foreign market we can get better value than that.

Spurs play 1 up top so any striker going there is only going to play if Kane doesn’t.

The flip side of that is that by going to Spurs you probably set yourself up for life with the wages they pay.

I don't believe we've changed our ambition re OW's price. It's always been a number in the high 20s plus add-ons

And some thought we were letting him go for £18...

I have to say that I heard plenty about Watkins last season but didn't actually see much of him until I watched the Play-off Final. In that game he was anonymous and it was difficult to see what the fuss is about.

One of United's team mottos (as revealed in an interview recently by Dean Henderson) is 'real men turn up for the big games' or something similar.

Irrespective of the price (and the one being quoted is, it has to be said, ludicrous) I'm not sure Watkins was ever cut out for Wilder's United...

Saw him a few times and I'd be gutted if we spent anywhere near twenty million on this kid

I think he is a good player but not sure he will make it as a striker in the Prem. I see him more as an attacking midfielder. Big gamble for anyone spending 28 mill for him to play up front.

Might give us the cash to buy the player that wins us the European Cup. So who knows!

Brentford, 'twinned with Hillsborough'.
You'd be so much happier on PorkTalk, mate. You'd fit right in.
Ever been to North Korea, by any chance?
