Ollie Watkins

Genuine question. From last seasons evidence, what makes you think Smith is likely to get it right over Wilder?
I really do worry about our fan bases expectation if they think we should have given Robinson £45K/week and Watkins £75k. There's a reason that no one else in the league are looking to match them either.

Agree - who are villa even bidding against?

why not offer 50k - he would accept it, we probably wouldn’t look to match and it would save them over a million quid a year??

Same with Fulham. Why not offer 30k a week instead of 45k? Just nonsense levels of pay imo.

They're looking to blow the competition out the water inorder to not let it run late into the window. They're paying a significant premium to get it done early before we kick off the season and we should stay well away.

I get that these spendthrift clubs have billionaire owners but how come they aren't limited by FFP rules ?

Which particular rules are you thinking of? What's the criteria?
I don't know much about FFP but I thought clubs couldn't make excessive losses - perhaps the point is that we can't afford to make any losses at all - and the spendthrift clubs can make losses within the rules , which are covered by owners pouring in money ?

£105m over 3 years I believe is the current limit the restrictions on wage bill growth was removed last year I think.
Of more relevance I've not seen or heard of any issue with any club who are clearly operating beyond that like Everton for example so is it going to be enforced?

I think the majority of prem clubs operate outside of profitability and sustainability rules with only those qualifying for Europe having to theoretically abide by UEFA stipulations

Can't owners gift as much as they want as long as wages don't overshoot 15% (or something) of receipts?

OK , so even if a club adheres to FFP , it's owner can subsidise it's losses up to approx £32m pa , so that's 11 players on £3m pa (£60k pw) more than ours.
I'm beginning to understand the ridiculous gap between our wages + those of Fulham Villa etc

Does anyone really think we are going to sign Ollie Watkins? Or are you all just hoping it will magically happen like me?

I’m convinced he’ll still be there at the end of the window

They're pricing the lad out of a move. Maupay went for less and was the better player. I would've thought the Toney signing would've meant that he was going, oh well. To be honest, I'm impressed they're showing backbone here, wish we'd done the same previously.

yep, if the players ok with it then fuck it i’d be asking for crazy money too, fair play to the club for seeking what they see to be just compensation for their assets

This time next year he'll be in the "what went wrong this season" list. CWAK have moved on and so shall we.

He isnt worth 28 mill so if that is the new asking price I cant see him signing for any premier league club

Villa are looking at Wilson apparently, there's no way even they would go for both.

To be honest, would have really liked Watkins, but at half their asking price

So now quite enjoying watching this from the outside, seeing Villa get mugged off a fair bit, knowing full well that at the end of the day Wilder will have something up his sleeve for us

They're gonna end up paying 44-50m for Watkins and Cash .. Ridiculous to be honest

28Million Christ

How much would moose be worth if we managed to get him fit and firingt 50/60 Million
