Off topic but I have noticed over the years that Wednesday fans are way more to the left on average than United fans tend to be. Not sure why that is.

Ought for naught mentality
Like free ground up grades for world cups.
There was a thread on Porktalk the other week about the world cup coming to England again and why they should or would choose the Sty as one of the Grounds, thus getting a free up grade.
Plus they seem to be more favoured by our local council over the years which has mostly always been Labour.

He might understand that sometimes, in order to keep possession and disrupt the shape of the opposition, it is necessary to go sideways or even backwards.

It’s something that unsophisticated football fans find difficult to comprehend. Especially those in S2 who have grown up on a diet of hoofball and actively encourage aimless punts in the general direction of the opposition goal.

True but there was definitely a feeling whenever I watched Lee Evans that he was incapable of taking any form of risk with the ball and would only consider sideways passes. The Jordan Henderson paradigm. I'm not advocating hoof but you do need to move the ball forward on occasion (something Coutts did extremely well).

Evans was incapable of playing ball round the corner like you say. Evans was an expert at finding the wingbacks, but not Fleck or Duffy which is why their games suffer.

Only in S2 would this not be recognised.

Because they've never had a decent Right Back.

We've had loads - Boborkis, Walker, Naughton etc.

Aaah. Knew there was a reason I could see it but others can't; I'm in TW2 not S2. That might be why I preferred Lundstram to Evans too; at least he (JL) tries to make things happen.

Because they draw most of their support from vast council estates like Southey Green and Parson Cross? Can't pay, won't pay. For owt.

Your usual over-simplification spoils a good point. Did you watch Keown and Jenas last night on MOTD analyse Arsenal, who went sideways and backwards to no purpose, and created problems only for themselves, and Man City, who after a couple of sideways/backwards passes looked for a pass forward to a runner who could do damage to the opposition? Most Blades fans, like any other group, can tell the difference.

Most of the Blades fans on here have been brought up on grotesque anti-football. They are the Bassett boys and know no better. That’s why we have continuing calls for ‘direct’ football, that being a euphemism for Kick it Long; Kick it Hard; Kick it High.

Yes, we have more than our share of Tory lap-dogs on here, doffing their caps to public school chinless wonders like Smogg, Gove and Cunt.

Pathetic toadies, the lot of them.

Manor, Abourthorne and Woodthorpe are comparable aren't they?

If you look at the demographic of both sets I'd say United are probably the more likely to have a higher proportion of left wing supporters. They're probably about the same though.

I'm a Labour member so I can only speak for myself and the people who I know but all my mates who support United, bar one, are all Labour and similar with the Wendies. Both clubs have fans from differing parts of the city. Not noticed United fans preferring the Tories, hope not anyway!

I've always lived close to the city centre, brought up in Sharrow, and I now live in S2.

Once you go past the Manor, you've got Hackenthorpe, Frecheville, Beighton etc. My Dad's side are all from there, and it's like a different world.

Most are still working class, but the people are just completely different, and many have adopted some very 'right' views.

I find that there's just a deeply ingrained attitude against change. It's plain as day when I compare the attitudes of my Dad's side and my Mum's, and I firmly believe it's down to the diversity in the areas.

What's with the political bullsh@t again flinchy?

Is this the only platform that you have?

Good to hear from you again Singlecellbrain. My friends and fans have orders to shoot me if I ever get a Twitter account. A land where people who know nothing confirm it tweet by tweet.

Aw, so its folks like you responsible for the near never-ending appalling Labour governance of Sheffield council then is it? ;)

You should worry more about the governance of the nation. A deeply unpleasant rightist crew are in the wings awaiting the inevitable demise of Mother Teresa.
