CONFIRMED Oliver Norwood

Most of the Blades fans on here have been brought up on grotesque anti-football. They are the Bassett boys and know no better. That’s why we have continuing calls for ‘direct’ football, that being a euphemism for Kick it Long; Kick it Hard; Kick it High.
Yet you never seem to quote them. I have seen people on here wanting longer passes played (not hit and hope), and I will plead guilty to wanting the keeper or defender at times to get rid, when in a tight corner and outnumbered. Would you have been happy to be an Arsenal fan yesterday when Czech almost passed it into his own goal, rather than go long? George Long, who you deride, suffered under Weir as a youngster because he was clearly under instruction to pass to defenders who were not good enough to play it out under pressure (Harry being the honourable exception).

You should worry more about the governance of the nation. A deeply unpleasant rightist crew are in the wings awaiting the inevitable demise of Mother Teresa.
On that, I am in complete agreement with you!

I've always lived close to the city centre, brought up in Sharrow, and I now live in S2.

Once you go past the Manor, you've got Hackenthorpe, Frecheville, Beighton etc. My Dad's side are all from there, and it's like a different world.

Most are still working class, but the people are just completely different, and many have adopted some very 'right' views.

I find that there's just a deeply ingrained attitude against change. It's plain as day when I compare the attitudes of my Dad's side and my Mum's, and I firmly believe it's down to the diversity in the areas.

I live in Shiregreen and that is more Wednesday, although not as much as you'd think, and everyone here is Labour and also almost everyone I know voted to leave the EU and many do also have right wing views; not saying those that voted to leave are racist by the way! No way is this a United or a Wednesday thing, other than both clubs are working class, by in large.

Anyway, Norwood's just signed and that's great news!

Yeah I think it's just a Sheffield thing. We are thankfully a very red city, which is what makes it great.

Aw, so its folks like you responsible for the near never-ending appalling Labour governance of Sheffield council then is it? ;)

Ha ha Finchy, Sheffield was run by the lib Dems for may a year I recall. Local government, whoever is in charge, always seems to be mixed in its success but budgets have being massively cut by Government, and I get why, but this hits the north far more than the south.

The tree felling has being a total mess by Labour though and an embarrassment. Anyway that's it from me on politics before I get accused of not talking United!

Looking forward to seeing the lad play.
Hopefully an upgrade on Evans.

UTB!

Hell of a signing.

Well done to Chris and all involved at the club for getting this done.

Nice to be spending decent money again after 6 years in L1 living off scraps. Hoping Norwood addresses some of our creativity / service to strikers problems. Next signing really does need to be a striker though...to state the obvious!

I hope your response to his joke was also a joke.

What joke? Who are these “Lee Evans sympathisers” and what’s remotely funny about it?

Is it okay for me to offer “RIP Billy Sharp sympathisers” when we get rid of the captain?

The so-called joke had neither reason nor relevance. It was bollocks and, as ever, I’ll say what I think.

Yes it is okay.

I won't start whining about how my hamster Billy has just died so how dare you make a joke in the age of the offended.

To be fair, that could apply to 50% of the stuff on here and about 90% of my own posts.

It's a forum where people post stuff.

Somewhat surprisingly, not all of it is Cartesian Existentialism.

You provide some witty, intelligent stuff. Did you perceive any humour whatsoever in the comment in question? At the most generous, it was a silly jibe at people who might have thought Lee Evans a decent player. This, rather than express pleasure at the recruitment of a very good player. Sorry, my own sense of humour is sometimes unfathomable but I just don’t get it.
