In a previous existence as an accident Claims Investigator for the NCB/British Coal I always tried to arrange my visits to Brookhouse on a Friday as that was fish and chip day and I used to get a free dinner :D
You’re not the miscreant that put up the “No Farting” sign in one of the Coal House lifts, are you?

I really wouldn't want to tackle our lot back then. Hard looking bunch

At least Blades won 2 - 0 , Billy Russell both goals. 55 goals in 144 games. Always scored in important games. still going strong at 85. Pretty good for a midfielder.
A maintenance bloke was in my office in Clydebank in 1995 and , noting my Bramall Lane portrait on the wall , said ' My Da used to play for yous , clearly before your time.'

This bloke was called Davie Russell.

Next time I was back in Sheffield I relayed this to my Dad, who was very ill at the the time.

His face lit up when he said ' Billy Russell, crowd loved him , shirked nothing, be worth millions today.'
