If my memory serves me well for once, Hartle went full pelt into a brick wall knocking himself out. After a few minutes the magic sponge brought him round and off he ran. When I say ran, he looked like I do after eight pints. Don't think he remembered much of the game.

As Silent Blade says below, after the game, a temporary bridge collapsed. I think it was over an empty dyke. I was stood by the side of it as it sagged more and more till it collapsed.

Took this after the Chesterfield game while wrestling a 3 year old not getting on the pitch from the JSS was leant against the ads board.

strange. I thought I was subbed to this thread but missed loads of pages with no notifications.

I thought I'd seen them all. Never seen this one!

It is literally the missing piece from the bomb shot (which everyone has seen) to the after pictures.

argh, look at those lovely buildings. Luftwaffe or SCC?

Look at the shit there now. And the top of the Moor, I'm going to not start with that :(

also, sorry I have thought of more...

look at the size of the plot!! You can see the whole wall around here in this one... It's huge! (especially for a City Centre ground). Almost no others had/have this much room...

It reminds me of a facebook football ground geek site I'm on... this is almost like a picture of Old Trafford in about 1910 I saw, and similarly, we're limited because the whole thing was built out of order and in our case, way too close to the JS BL corner.

In the old traff picture though, there was room enough to build a city on the other side of it, and yet they obviously didn't have hindsight and built it right next to the railway lines 😂 (though ironically, the initial purpose of this proximity to the rails, was so fans could get there. (I saw that on Tarrant's rail thing last night!) haha

What a brilliant photo! Shared this with some mates and mused over when it would have been taken. Due to the lack of floodlight pylons (erected in 1954, we believe) and the style of wagons on John Street, we're guessing at the early 50's?

Here's a link to the photo, says it was taken in 1948:

Here they are all being demolished in about 1972, ready for the eggbox

1972. 2019. No change, and same happens now.

I noticed the Star and Garter gone this week. Small things, and no one gives a toss, but they add up. And the shit in town now, is the result.

In the late 1960s the CWS Bank was a "boutique" called Lift Up Your Skirts and Fly. My sister worked there and I often visited. You could actually access the upper floors from the back of the shop. They were in a seriously dilapidated condition with holes in the floors, peeling paintwork and bird droppings all over. I don't think they could have been saved and as someone pointed out earlier these buildings all came down in the early 1970s to make way for the Eggbox Town Hall extension and the building of Arundel Gate.

Also much more recent (but possibly around when the 'egg box' was there) - the Army & Navy Store at the end of St. Paul's Parade (where Brown's is now).

Does anyone know what the dark square area next to the Pavilion was that looks a bit like a swimming pool?

Outdoor 5 a side pitch?

That is the spot where the barn, er gym was built. Blades Revival members used to go down on a Monday night for a training session banging a few weights around and then tripping up over the creases and holes in the 'astro turf'.

I don't think a comparison can be made with the Star & Garter and the buildings above.
