No Gary Sinclair?

I often think we must be a country full of desperately unhappy people. Got to be something missing in your life if you go on social media to batter someone because you weren't happy with how they read a few birthdays out at Bramall Lane.

I’ve got a theory.

Many have have minor frustrations and minor frustrations which build up over time.
Then like a pressure cooker eventually a tiny bit of stress creates a totally over the top reaction.

Many people (who have some unhappiness) go to football and shout abuse at players, the ref, whoever.
The target of their anger is irrelevant, it’s the facts they can release some of their bottled up anger that makes them feel better.
I suppose it’s bette to abuse the ref/ players than being at home and taking it out on the kids and wife.

I really believe Social Media offers than same release valve.
So many people get so much enjoyment from complaining/ slagging off/ insulting any subject that around.
Then afterwards that person giving the abuse immediately feels better but it’s a short term solution.
People need to self analyse, being really honest with themselves about why they are so angry about life.

The stadium announcer shouldn’t take it personal, some people need a punch bag to release their anger/ frustration and that announcer put himself up there as a potential target.

Have to say he wasn't that bad.

Agree but that’s irrelevant.
We lost, so some fans need a scapegoat to vent their anger and frustration.
We used to have Chris Montgomery but these days the players are doing so well we’re really struggling to pick a scapegoat in this team, hence why some are trying to make Marvin Johnson one but he doesn’t play enough.

Also as I say the anger and frustration isn’t necessary football based, it’s often relate to their personal life.

There's plenty about social media I despise, but I think it gets overplayed how much people have supposedly changed over the years.

It's just that you've now got the views of anyone at your fingertips compared to those you meet and talk to.

Throw in the trolling and hey presto, any thread about any topic can look overloaded with utter cocks.

No. Some just find you and a minority of others that obsessed that you've lost sight of being rational about it.

You've now taken to exaggerating or picking out the quiet bits as unacceptable.

Saturday wasn't a great atmosphere but it wasn't as bad as you and some others are portraying.

We played poorly and despite being in front twice, never looked comfortable. Whether you like it or not that will negatively affect the atmosphere irrespective of our position in the league.

I watched Liverpool yesterday and the same could be said of their fans at times. And Anfield on song is one of the loudest grounds I've been to anywhere.

Wilder isn't moaning about our support, but then he'll remember playing for us when we got promoted out of this league with much smaller crowds and some shocking home atmospheres by comparison, when you had a Kop and West Terrace to help create noise compared to now.

I've already said I think it was above average on Saturday. But that says a lot about our usual standard. So what the announcer guy has posted is generally fair about our support.

At least Liverpool's Kop can be arsed to stand up. And on European nights they're outstanding. But a better comparison for us would have to be Wolves last season. Top end of the Championship like us, and the atmosphere at Molineux was brilliant - again with all fans behind the goal stood up.

Never have a problem hearing Gary Sinclair - he has a voice that carries on the PA system.

Could hardly hear anything from the fella on Saturday - either PA was set wrong or something else.

Was is good? - nope, bloody useless and a waste of time. That doesn't mean to say the fella in question was useless.

Radio/PA work is an art - some can do it, some can't - would be nice in situations like this if someone at the club could "officially" explain the problem to the fans.

Whatever the problem was - the end result of "hearing" the PA announcer was a diabolic failure.

UTB

So why does he have to come on EVERY post slagging Blades fans. Why doesn't he just shut the fuck up. Problem at the Lane is a lot of tension amongst the fans. Happens to every team chasing something. Been to Anfield a few times over the last few seasons and it is totally overrated.
We’ve been asking those questions for years mate...:) Had a little spat with him yesterday, no worries, no harm done, everyone’s different....

He’s a Blade

100%

gbs

I hope he gets another chance, improves, and eventually replaces Holiday Gaz.

And having an adequate PA system might help just a little bit.
Not the only one stood on the pitch that I hope improves.

My first time in the Upper Corner – it was tough to hear him. It did though sound like he:
  • Announced for us to welcome the two teams, building up to a crescendo, before cutting off and realising there were a few mins left and a video still to be played
  • Took a few mins before announcing the Hogan sub had happened rather than do this as the sides kicked off for the 2nd half
He generally didn’t seem very prepared, which is surprising given we follow a very simple format at BDTBL, and doubly so if it wasn’t his first time doing this.

Sha shaa sha shaa sha sha sa sha shaa booft. Fa sha sha shaa shar sha sha bfft. Sha sha she sha sha sasa shar sar booft.

Enjoy the game!

Agree Wolves were excellent last season, but they had a board who spent lots of dosh and were cruising to the Prem, no real pressure on the support.. They'd bought the players and the fans realised they were being given something special. Liverpool are good on BIG European nights, but only when playing the major teams. If they were at home in the Europa League playing a team like Hoffenheim it would be totally different. Never forget we have been brought up on a diet of failure and sometimes it rubs off on the fans.

ive said on saturday & i wasnt having ago, i understand some idiots will have not been constructive. i said hes the best of stand ins ive heads the were things that were different. tell about the lap of honour at start not the finish & you do the starting line-ups twice. but get better in practise

& on the noise you cant expect 90mins of constant noise you get that nowhere in England, i refer you to chris wilder "crowd more than did there job"

Seems touchy posting that but let’s be honest most of us don’t even listen to the PA, we are immune from it

The problem was he said we made NO NOISE which is utter bullshit. It was above average for this season at home so no need for you or him to lay into the fans.
The Molineux atmosphere was excellent but even by their own admission it was well above average for them at the time. Being comfortably top and having had a skinful of ale all afternoon certainly helps though

That's not how you get people on side. Very poor judgement, in my opinion. If you can't handle being in the public eye, you shouldn't be in it. That's not to excuse trolls and twats on social media, and I do think something needs to be done about it, but he's not going to make any headway with the people who've criticised him by hitting back.

I agree. Also, worth pointing out he was poor last year for the Preston game.

His voice doesn't carry well and he does not seem prepared at all. He announced the teams about 10 minutes before the game kicked off for fucks sake.

That said I wouldn't go out of my on social media to tell him directly as its not worth it. He is a fellow Blade and unfortunately being a stadium announcer is not his thing.

I didn't hear him sitting in the south stand, but thought it was more to do with the speakers, of which one is above my head was turned off.

So how did you know when to start the formulaic version of greasy chip butty song?
Surely we can only do that when we hear John Denver start to boom out.

To be fair to Magic Marv, he makes a decent bid for the role when he does play :)
