No Gary Sinclair?

Oh, right, I’m not on Facebook mate.

What sort of responses was he getting?

I'd imagine in general it was 'that stadium announcer is shit' with a few personal attacks thrown in with words such as cunt and twat sprinkled on top.

He's said how much it meant to him to work at the Lane as a life-long Blade and it obviously had added importance to him in memory of his Dad who was a also a Blade. He's obviously feeling bad about the way things went and doesn't deserve the abuse. He's admitted he was nervous so would have been struggling. From what I heard of the announcing I didn't think it was too bad, tbh a lot of the time we can't make out a lot of what is said by Gary Sinclair, and when he inteviews someone it's impossible to hear what they're saying. That piece he did with Tony Folds (the old bloke behind the endcliffe park fly-past the other week) was just garbled muffles. Maybe the equipment is shite though.

He shouldn’t be having a go at us all though Steve, I don’t mind if I’ve been out of order first but he’s called us all out and that’s why I called him a self entitled prick on here after his statement got put on here.

He should learn to either ignore the attacks or attack those that give it him as before his response I didn’t think anything of him either way. Infact if anything I thought he was very upbeat but was a tad high pitched but that could’ve been the system.

Is he the same bloke who did some lower key games earlier in the season (possible Hull in the League cup)? I thought he was pretty good to be honest.

If anyone is to blame it is Gary Sinclair, now I rate Gary as one of the best stadium announcers around but if he thinks it is in any way acceptable to miss crucial home games when he puts himself forward as this “massive blade” he can find himself another job. I book my holidays in June and July every year to avoid missing games and I am paying to be there, not being paid to be there.

To piss off playing golf (golf ffs!!) when we are at home in a crucial promotion game he lets himself and the club he purports to support down badly.

No, I agree that he's acted like a tit.

Fair play to him. He has every right to have a go back and isn't wrong about our support.

I’ve been critical of the vocal backing at times but this Saturday we gave it.. the players let us down.

He seems to be on holiday for at least 2 home games every season. It really shouldn't be difficult to avoid that.

Fair enough it was above average by our standards, but 'let us down' sounds a bit entitled, as if we've been great for them all season. They've given us far more than we could ask for, as I'm sure you'll agree.

Fair.

When I was a lad there was an old bloke called Reg who used bring a roll of soggy newspaper to the game, one that he’d had his tripe n vinegar dinner in. He’d roll it up into a cone shape and use it like a megaphone to shout out the team changes. He’d got no teeth had Reg, but at half-time he’d bang out a few tunes using a comb and paper, for the half time entertainment.

The only thing massive about Gazza is his ego.

So just to clarify, who’s responsible for Satdi’s defeat?

Wilder, Johnson, Henderson, Sinclair or the guy from Peak Radio?

.....it was Lundstram & Sinclair; oh, oh, it was Lundstram & Sinclair. ‘Ere fellow bladesmen, let’s shed a tear; it was Lundstram & Sinclair.

Facebook group, where he’s been called plenty of things and more or less goaded into this response.

Fair play to the kid. I love the response. It shows passion and has some factual basis. No matter how much we deny it, we had a lot of spectators on Saturday, but very few supporters.

However, I doubt he’ll be doing the job ever again and he’s resigned himself to a career talking about the pedestrianisation of Chesterfield town centre and playing Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott records, but what a way to go. Better to burn up, than fade away. He’s just thrown all his toys out of the pram, dropped the mic, pissed in a plant pot and left the building, all whilst giving the rods.

If I’ve got any complaint, it’s that he’s absolved Johnson of any blame. :D

The bit of the MC work I think he got totally wrong yesterday was the announcing of the players.

It was done at 2.50pm BEFORE any of the players entered the pitch.
So when he went down the rollcall of the players, there was hardly a single cheer, it was pretty feeble.

I reckon that would have hurt him as it’s a public slap in the face.
It’s a bit like a dj getting excited announcing his selection of music but no one bothers to go on the dance floor.

If he had waited until 2.57pm, when the players were on the pitch, the player announcement would have been much better.

As a Blade surely he should've known when to read the names out?

I've not seen much in the way of abuse as I left all United related Facebook pages as they're a cancer. Full of arseholes with a few decent people sprinkled on top. Anyway, he doesn't deserve the abuse he's received, he was asked to step in to cover for Sinclair and thanks to his outburst probably won't be asked back again but honestly, he probably doesn't want to come back either.

As a footnote, why we can't stipulate that GS can't go on holiday during the season, it's not much to ask is it? Is he an employee of SUFC of is it more a case of he came in to help us out now and again and he's been here ever since?

Spot on this, been saying the same for a while. Can usually make Sinclair out okay, but whenever he interviews anyone its usually inaudible. I’d put it down to guests not speaking into the mic properly, but this Richie bloke was the same on Saturday, as was Mick Foley the other week and he’s been speaking on microphones in front of big crowds for 25+ years.
