oh I forgot, they were queuing round the block to sign him but he hurt his toe ;)

No matter how you take the piss out of it, it happened.

There have been plenty more popular over the years excused for doing absolutely nothing based purely on their name - But ask a pro who they'd rather play with.

One of the most cringeworthy interviews was when Radio Sheffield asked Bardsley if he would be open to moving to the lane permantley. He may as well have said "I'd rather eat my own shit"

In reference to Monty, if we're missing him, we are truly doomed.

puppet liked what he saw of Jeff Minton after seeing him score a simple goal for Rotherham in 2001 (he was on loan from Port Vale) and ranted in BU or SUISA that we had missed out on signing him. I told him that he shouldnt judge on a player's qualities after just seeing him score a simple goal on tv. Rotherham didnt keep Minton so he went to Leyton Orient and then he went into non league obscurity in 2002. Monty was a key player in the triple assault season until he got injured in the semi final 2nd leg at Liverpool also played many games in the 2005-06 promotion season and in the 2006-07 season in the Premiership. This time puppet hasnt risen to the bait when I mentioned Jeff Minton in this thread!
I didn't rise to the bait simply because I had completely forgotten who the eff Minton even was, Silent, to be perfectly honest :)

Bardsley was toss for us I fully expected him to follow the paths of Twiss and Notman.
I don't think he was toss for us. I think thats selective memory. We assembled a great squad under Robson, he just couldn't manage them. What a good DoF he would've made rather than manager.

Ask a half decent midfielder who they would like to play against every week. Nick "training cone" Montgomery would be high up the list.

Anyway, after embarrassing us for ten years the arch shadow-chaser has gone and he ain't coming back. Hallelujah for that, but now we have his Irish cousin Michael O'Monty!

Easy to pick players out.....I always thought it was a team game?

Hockey was nothing special on his own.....but christ he made a team!
Erm you made the original point referring to "players" not the "teams". Did you think it was a team game when you wrote the last point ;)

In all seriousness Monty was more effective than most gave him credit but he would make no positive difference to the side now imo. Then again I think Doyle does a job by and large :(
