One thing is for sure, he has triggered a load of feminists on Twitter tonight who had forgotten about him.![]()
For those who could not be bothered to go tonight, I really can't understand how you can form an opinion.
For what its worth, I thought Ched did well tonight against League 1 opposition, and showed glimpses that he's not that far off the first 11.
Jean Chopper?
This is like the owlstalk frenzy over how Carlos is the best manager on earth because they beat Chessy. I'm a big fan of Ched, but he's a long way to go. I wish him luck.
You're a silly man.
Like many things it's the context.
Playing well against a poor Walsall side is nothing to get excited about, it's not a big deal
But some experts on here insisted that Ched was finished. They said he struggled at a relegated league 1 side last season and could never regain his 2012 form after not playing football for 4 years. Many said Wilder had blundered because it could take years for Ched to find any form and even then he would be past it.
Well based on tonight's performance the above view would appear to be inaccurate or scaremongering to serve an agenda.
Walsall play in league 1 and Ched showed glimpses tonight he's he's a class above Walsall level (remember they played a full strength team tonight).
It's early days and could be a one off but the BIG NEWS for the doubters (which I was one) is it looks like Ched might still have it.
Its just one of the very many things I find more interesting to debate than Ched Evans. Other examples include: the best way to peel a banana? Why is a tomato a fruit? How long does bread have to be in a toaster before it can reasonably be considered toast? And what is wrong with people who prefer ketchup to Brown sauce?
After many years of watching this most wonderful of sports, I still find it gob-smackingly amazing that so many football fans don't have a clue, and so many seem to want certain of their own players to fail in order to prove to others what they believe themselves - that they are in fact experts.
Some of us remain of the view Evans shouldn't be playing in a United shirt and that won't change whether he scores 35 or 5 goals this season.
Hopefully we aren't about to become defined by a player instead of the team we once again became last season.
Do you hold the same opinion vis a vis any other of his teamates?
No; debates around the rest of our current squad tend to focus on abilities and tactics. Which like most fans I really enjoy (hence the hours spent every week on here)
With Ched however history and mortality tend to take over. People's preconceptions don't really change and arguments tend to get petty. I just feel the arguments have all been done to death and one substitute appearance doesn't give much further insight.
Ahh apologies, late night typo. I just feel you only have to look at the title of the thread to highlight the issue. It as if fans are divided into 'haters ' and 'fan boys'. When the silent majority will do doubt disagree with his previous behaviour and understand the damage done but will judge the situation on merit. I.e. contribution on the field. He needs treat as a new signing, no big love in based upon previous performances but not having an axe to grind either. Then why not do as I and most others have and comment on his football and nothing else.
It's morality by the way. Like all of us,he is mortal and will die.

I have 2 daughters, and if either one of them acted like the slag Ched went with I'd disown them and top myself for failing them so miserably.
He was innocent of any crime! Fuck morals,we've all shagged a bird we shouldn't have
Then why not do as I and most others have and comment on his football and nothing else.

Ever thought you might, just possibly, be on the wrong web-site?Its just one of the very many things I find more interesting to debate than Ched Evans. Those views have no weight or merit on a football forum now. Take them elsewhere, please.
I really don't want to go through the whole Ched discussions again, but a fan can surely believe he we shouldn't have resigned him because of his previous unprofessional actions which brought the club significant negative publicity? Add to that the amount of money he took out of the club for a single season return, a season which were torpedoed largely through his own actions. So Ched can score 35 goals and you will still think he shouldn't be playing for United, that tells me you are not a supporter of Sheffield United and just a Ched tourist
