Next season in the championship

I think something has happened to Wilder lashing out at fans? Perhaps he gets pissed to much and is too old to fit in with the modern world? Similar to Clough near the end.

Also, can someone say what Alan Knill brings to the table nowadays? He was rightly praised first time round for dead ball routines and developing our playing style?

He just seems to stand like a cunt on matchays rarely offering anything? We don't do owt on corners and have the laughable Robinson long throw routine.

We seem very predictable to play against and we have played "well" on maybe 5 occasions all season.

It pains me to say it but Wilder Knill should be pensioned off, get a younger manager in with tactical nous and a coach who is actively involved?

*Clough meaning Brian, not the depressing one that managed us
And a set piece specialist.

Absolutely not. Combined 30m ish on Brewster and cannon. Just think the calibre of player(s) that could’ve been brought in on that kind of money.

Seriously Jimmy?

Your evidence is one transfer from over 4 and a half years ago and another one where the young lad only arrived a few weeks ago?

Pathetic!

Being positive, with more ambitious tactics and squad including One, Cannon, Arblaster. Peck and seriki is quite exciting. Reckon we keep O'hare, Burrows and Campbell. If we were to push the boat out again hopefully get Souttar.

way too soon to write us off

still got a point more than leeds in last 6 despite losing 2
every one thought top 3 would get high 90 points like last season, doubtful if 84 will get reached as clubs feel the pressure

15 points still available

we win last 5 we go upas we will beat Burnley

only really weak minded people give up
👏👏👏

Get Bishop in from Pompey, new centre back and go again

IF we're still here...

New manager (sorry Chris). Would like to see a proper tactician for once. Someone with a plan B and C. Think that would fit nicely with the owner's more analytical approach. Someone like Henrik Rydström at Malmo.

Might be a season too far for Hamer, Souza and Anel. 7-figure fees for all. Get £5m out of Stoke for Cannon and let go of RND.

Build the team around Peck and Arblaster. Raid the out-of-contract market, pick up some smarter loans, few million on a marquee signing.

A much more fun season than Burnley will be having.

Oh and please God sign Alfie Doughty for the left wing. No more inverted crap.

A number of people seem to assume that we will not get promoted, which means presumably that Leeds and Burnley will. That would make Farke and Parker the successful managers in this year’s Championship. I don’t recall any clamour on here in recent years for United to appoint either of them…

New manager, new players

Be careful what you wish for etc but I don't want us to continue playing like this

To be fair, Parker has done excellent. I think Leeds will get promoted in spite of Farke, not because of him.

No, they don't.
There's not a manager in this league that would have got us to this position after last season.
I beg to differ the Derby manager Eustace has done a fantastic job of giving them hope of staying in the championship 4 wins and a draw in the last six and the draw was against Burnley. Previous to that Blackburn were doing ok but have gone to shit since he left, same with Birmingham they went down after the owners decided they wanted a change.
One to keep an eye on, I predict Derby will survive and do rather well next season. And that is working with the players at the club after the transfer window the upturn hasn't been bought.

Get Liam Rosenior out of Strasbourg . Young progressive manager with good tactics . Americans will realise Wilder is not one for the future
I can remember playing Hull a few years back and they gave us a real game. I was surprised they got rid. Rate him but would you honestly jump from Strasbourg to United. He'd need his head seeing to.

So Alan Knill’s “a cunt” now?

Wtf is happening to this forum.

That’s thick. We have no idea what the coaches do.

With regards to the answer to this ridiculous question, assuming the loans all go + Brewster’s released and Robinson’s renewed, we’d need a couple of centre half’s, a right back, an attacking midfielder, a couple of wingers and a forward. Most of these would be squad players. I wouldn’t bust the bank and I’d like to see T money being invested in new contracts, scouting, infrastructure, the academy etc. Our long term aim (presumably a lower mid-table prem team that can be sold for a huge profit in 5-10 years) requires long-termism, and I don’t think we can get there just by spending £30m on flavour of the week championship youngsters.

The only players I can see attracting attention are Souza, Hamer, Cooper and Anel. Anel I’d offer a new 3 or 4 year deal as soon as the season finishes and if he refuses (which he probably will if we stay down) the. I’d sell him, though we’d probably only get £10m max. The others I’d accept no less than £20m.

For centre half, I’d like to see Holding back on loan. He’s a premier league player and with a preseason (a cliche but in his case relevant) he could be brilliant. We’d need one other and this is one where a punt on a European youngster could be in order.

For right back we should target someone to start who can offer attacking competence but defensive solidity. I think Harry Clarke looked to be doing this before his disappearance so I wouldn’t be against spending 3 or 4 million on him.

For attacking midfield O’Hare should start so I’d like a prem loan like McAtee, Dowell or (shudder) Woodburn come in who can provide some magic. Crystal Palace signed Romain Esse from Milwall in Jan and he’s barely played a minute so I’d like him.

For the wing, we need a starter as though I like Brooks he’s not good enough to start at the top of the championship. Trhys Dolan at Blackburn’s available on a free at the end of the season and has looked good whenever I’ve seen him and could be very good at this level with a better team around him. We’d need a back up to Hamer and Josh Koroma, who’s also available on a free, is knocking about in League One for Huddersfield and could be a decent option. He’s fairly creative and can put a cross in, something we’re lacking.

Up front we probably need one more option. Oné and Marsh should be loaned, leaving us with Campbell, Moore and Cannon which is decent for the championship but could probably do with another player. Probably another prem loan, the best I can come up with is a return for Will Osula who could do a job with 10 minutes off the bench:

Hamer, Souza and Anel will go but should get around 35m for all three. Would like to drop the CDM role and go for a much more attacking formation as the right side will be gone BBD, JRS and left Hamer will be gone.

So now that it looks like we’ll not be going up because we all know what happens in the playoffs, what would you like to see happen over summer in time for the new season starting? Who leaves, who stays?
Personally I would like a new manager in that’s more forward thinking for starters.
Let’s win the next two and make the Burnley match interesting. Let’s keep Wilder. Xxx

I’m sure for most on here the last two defeats has been a hammer blow and I’m finding that waking up during the night the first thing that hits me is the feeling of sheer depression by the way United may have thrown away a golden opportunity, especially with the additional 6 points we could have had as most would have tipped us to get from the last two games, meaning that by now we would have had one hand on the Championship silverware. However, reading some of the above posts have certainly made me slightly more confident that all is not lost and perhaps for us fans another season in the Championship may be a blessing. I’m sure the owners won’t be thinking this obviously, but from a fans perspective next season could prove to be very exciting. We have some very exciting young talent already here where I’m sure another year in the Championship would see them improve still further, but who could possibly struggle in the Prem should we go up this time. I’m convinced that even with the inevitable sale of some players already mentioned, building a new team around the young talent (if we keep hold of them) that by this time next year we may well be in a far stronger position to eventually succeed in the Prem.
Don’t get me wrong though; do I want my team to get promoted next month? You bet I do, but if we miss out then yes, I’ll still suffer sleepless nights thinking of what could have been, but at least I’d have a sense of being more optimistic for what will happen for 25/26. Unlike our neighbours on the dark side, even without promotion, the Blades have a very bright future ahead of us.

So you think, after the record breaking season we had last season, after the embarrassment and the clear out we had, Eustace would have walked in and got us top two...
Because he might keep Derby up?.

On this point, how many goals have come from the Robinson long throw?

It should be an excellent weapon, but I honestly can't remember the last time it worked.
