It's not who wants to come here it's who we want to come. Whittling down 25 applications is easy. Talking to agents of managers who are already in a job and haven't applied takes longer.

The fact that Blessin even applied for a visa all but says he was our main target but since that's a no go the board have to reconsider their options.

I'm sure it's just a courtesy. It's pretty standard stuff, caretaker does well higher ups say he's in the running but usually isn't, it's just what you say.

You’re right whittling down is easy. Speaking to your short list whether on the list or not, 4 weeks? 5 weeks? 6 weeks? sorry, I don’t see it

Why give him the courtesy though? He's already stated a few times he doesn't want it and is looking to go back to the under 23s. Unless they are seriously considering giving it him then why even mention him in the shortlist?

If it is him I'd consider writing next season off already based on his managerial history and what he's done so far. What's he even done to be considered as a reputable candidate?

Why give Duncan Ferguson the courtesy when you're Everton and want to get into the Champions League in the next couple of years? He was never going to get it but they still pretended he had the chance.

Everton aren't known for hiring managers on the cheap though so you can take their statements with a pinch of salt.

Never had an owner that's spent as much as Prince Abdullah though.

Really can't see him going cheap unless it's Blessin, who's cheap because he's inexperienced, but may have something about him.

Don't forget the logistical nightmare of arranging secret meetings with the applicants in hotels and bars, in full view of anyone with a mobile.

Up here for thinking, down there for dancing......

I don't think he has said he doesn't want it,exactly the opposite according to some articles.What he said is that he wanted assurances that he could go back to the youngsters,so I take that as meaning if he wasn't considered for the top job,or whoever came in,he,wanted assurances on that job,which is not the same as saying he doesn't want the top job,even more so now that it seems he is a serious contender.

Not the time to gamble on someone unproven, even someone as popular as Billy.

Got to be honest, I’m surprised Hecky is on the short list. He’s had a go at Championship management but I didn’t see any success. We know the short list contains managers without championship experience, but then thats because they haven’t had the opportunity.

Biggest decision the owner will have to make with this manager appointment.
Get it right and we’re on our way to challenging. Get this wrong and it won’t matter how much money PA throws at it, we’re going nowhere

The three probably on the list that interests me are Jokanovic and Howe with experience and Blessin as the unknown quantity
 
I can't understand why he even mentioned Hecky was one of the 5,unless it's to keep the players honest for the last few games by pointing out to them he could be their permenent gaffer next season.

What I fear is that Tindall is on the list,and Jokanovic is one of those they have spoken too and he is no longer on it.If the likes of Appleton and Robinson are on it,that is a really poor roster to choose from,unless there is a decent quality name on it out of the blue with a good championship team,or not in a job who is desperate to manage us,can't see it being a foreigner now unless Jokanovic is,hopefully,still one of the 5,but I am having big doubts about that.
