This year is a particularly good year for United plates - -B14DES - some can be bought for £895, but the best I tried was SB14DES and it was £4000!!

Thought I'd mention it; they will all be worth a fortune when we win the Premiership!!

SB14DES must have been bought by Silly Bill Des.

BL14DE C £399
BL14DE Y £399
BL14DE Z £399

p.s. as per the DVLA you aren't allowed to do silly spacing...

Or Scunthorpe or Southend United do.......

Never quite understood the 'fad' for personal number plates...whats it all about...

Got a blades one and paid £250 for it. If its your team then I can understand it, if its a not very clever use of letters to spell TW8T then I am struggling a bit.

I have YE52 WAT on retention. Is that clever enough for you ? ;) :D

Always thought it was a complete waste of time and money, until I was travelling down the A610 and saw a very pleasant looking lady, in a big white car, with the number 8NAL.
Just wished I'd have had time to join the queue following her . . . . .

I saw a car years ago in Silsden, West Yorkshire with this number plate - A 15 FUN :rolleyes:

Carl Asaba's number plate used to be good.

A5ABA.

Just it was on some rusty old white car, can't remember what it was.

And Devlin had P2DEV.

A few years ago a metallic green Audi TT pulled up near me in Nether Edge with A13ABE (The 'one' and a dodgy '3' were almost touching - A BABE, geddit?).

Well, she got out. A right fucking dog.

BU11 DOG

Michael Tonge had T2NGE. He became known as Ttwongey in our family.

We've got two in our family, B6ADE and S4UFC. We regard it as a bit of fun, a way to show which tribe we are in and a way to gently wind up Wendys - which it does! It also gives United fans some fun believe me, they wave and give thumbs up often enough.

Must say though, the older I get, and the worse United get, it looks a bit nerdy and a bit sad; probably should have grown out of this United thing by now in truth. In some company it can be a bit embarrassing when folk ask what it represents, We are 66 years old FGS! But on the way to Wembley, or a big away match, you should see how many waves and hoots we get from other Blades fans, Hull fans too the other week, and it's just nice. Great days, until the game starts usually!

If you see us on match day give us a wave, or let me know what you think to my posts!!!! - or make me an offer for the plates!!

By the way, I agree that plates with owners' initials or names on are a teeny bit self-centred, unless they are humorous, and what's wrong with spreading a bit of amusement?

Note: Entered this thread on "Off the Pitch" and it was elevated to this forum - might get the hang of it one day, having been given a few digs in the past.

Yep, a bit of fun is how I see it. I had the money at the time but wouldn't probably do it now because I have 2 kids and less cash. Can't quite understand why someone would have B4BE or the like because it just looks up its own arse. For 250 notes I get a lot of comment from work mates and customers alike, if nothing else it promotes a good conversation about football, what more could you ask for. Although it does mean no pig fan ever lets me out at the lights :)

think it was an original Audi Quattro.. being a Derbyshire (s33) person i tried to buy S33 UTD last year . .missed it by half an hour :(

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but when the DVLA first started selling number plates the prefix was A1 and they were all the same price, not like now where those spelling words etc are more expensive.

I knew a Unitedite who bought A15 UFC, for about £150 or whatever the going rate was! It was one of those, 'bloody hell, why didn't I think of that' moments, of which there have been many since!

I've thought since if someone had bought A1 SFC, A1 WBA, A15 CFC, A11UFC etc etc on that first day, they'd have turned a very tidy profit. What's more they could have bought A15 WFC and A10 WLS and scrapped the cars with them on :)
