Michael Tonge had T2NGE. He became known as Ttwongey in our family.
We've got two in our family, B6ADE and S4UFC. We regard it as a bit of fun, a way to show which tribe we are in and a way to gently wind up Wendys - which it does! It also gives United fans some fun believe me, they wave and give thumbs up often enough.
Must say though, the older I get, and the worse United get, it looks a bit nerdy and a bit sad; probably should have grown out of this United thing by now in truth. In some company it can be a bit embarrassing when folk ask what it represents, We are 66 years old FGS! But on the way to Wembley, or a big away match, you should see how many waves and hoots we get from other Blades fans, Hull fans too the other week, and it's just nice. Great days, until the game starts usually!
If you see us on match day give us a wave, or let me know what you think to my posts!!!! - or make me an offer for the plates!!
By the way, I agree that plates with owners' initials or names on are a teeny bit self-centred, unless they are humorous, and what's wrong with spreading a bit of amusement?
Note: Entered this thread on "Off the Pitch" and it was elevated to this forum - might get the hang of it one day, having been given a few digs in the past.
