God's country ...... Rovrum!
I know it could be deemed wrong board, but as there is the obvious link with our club thought I would just post that I have it on good authority (from the top table) he is Rotherhams new manager

Not certain, but it may be just until the end of the season

I thought he was taking leave from football for personal reasons, presumably illness in the family. If he is taking the Mlllers job, I hope that means the situation has improved.

on a serious note I hope so to

on a lighter note, it better have cos the money's down

Apparently, he was approached by one of the other SUFC's in this division for their vacant managerial post.
When asked if he'd be interested, he answered, "If the chairman provides me with a flight back to the family home, I could be tempted."

There is a new flight route from Donny to Newquay stating in March.

A lot of people will say "never go back" but I think it's a myth that returning managers never do well. Eddie Howe being a good example. Whether Warnock would still have the lower-league knowledge, motivational skills, drive and tactical nous to get us up is another matter. I would have him back under the following circumstances

1) This season would need to to finish disastrously with us flirting with relegation for us to sack the current manager
2) Warnock would need to be fit, health and fully committed
3) A line would need to be drawn under any lingering animosity with McCabe and any other board member
4) The vast majority of fans would need to support the appointment.

Interesting conversation between Brazil and Warnock this morning. Brazil asked Warnock what he'd advise any young chairman who'd recently bought a club and Warnock answered 'get the right people below you'.
Brazil then asked 'Director of Football?' and Warnock replied 'no I don't mean me' and then went on to talk about Chief Execs.

It was almost as if he knew he was being talked about as DoF here and thought Brazil was accusing him of talking himself up. Might be related to the Rotherham job but it was an odd comment to make.

Although it is a fact that McCabe and Warnock have kissed and made up , there is no chance of him coming back to the lane . Also can you see him working with Adkins or vis versa.

Rotherham need a short term fix and there are only 2no managers who can successfully against the odds provide that . Pulis and Warnock .

RUFC can get Warnock. Brash and up front appears to save the day, theses days .

Do we need a DOF . We have got one in Adkins . What we need is a team of good football coaches and players.

Is our aim short or long term - just seems to be mentioned as a excuse when things are not going right.

Let's give Adkins time , and hope he does not fuck it up and improves by 100%

If Adkins is doing the DoF job he may not have time to do the manager's job properly as well, particularly if there are directors on the board who undermine him.

I don't really care what job title they have but it seems obvious to me that the club would benefit from being run by someone who knows how to run a football club.

I'm always a bit cynical when a manager is sacked just after the window closes.

Seriously, why does it have to be so difficult?

You bring a manager in and it gels or it doesn't.
a manager likes a player or he doesn't.
Give a manager a budget and let him do what he needs to do or call him a coach and do it for him. Don't make it messy

Because it is messy. Money men got involved, businessmen, marketers, agents, lawyers. It's far too complicated these days for one man to deal with.

That's why other clubs have people to deal with that side of it and leave the manager to deal with football matters. And by 'people', I mean people who know what they're doing.

Whilst McCabe is still there, and controlling all the cards dealt to the table, Warnock will never be back.

A great shame. With him installed as team manger, the right kind of financial backing (and it wouldn't be squillions) and the crowd singing their hearts out again we could be back challenging for the PL in two years. Of course, we'd have the daft-arsed interviews, every other club hating us because of him and some unbelievable nights at BDTBL with him berating linesmen, falling out with opposition dugouts and having the players run their blood to water.

Those were the fucking days.

Who didn't renew his contract?

Yes. McCabe.

Ha ha hilarious! There is no way that they should have sacked Redfearn and appointed Warnock. He's past it now. Great manager in his day but in my view they should have appointed MArk Cooper and if they got relegated they could re-build with a manager who knows that league inside out. Either Cooper or Cotterill. They'll regret appointing Warnock, but I'll enjoy the Warnock interviews anyway! I'm sure referees are loving the prospect of Warnock returning!

In the Talk Sport bulletin, Moose said that when NW was asked about the managers job, he remained tight lipped.

Don't know for certain, but someone has said he has a meeting later today with RUFC, so I suppose it could still go t1ts up

SSN reporting that sources say WIlder is to be appointed. My source says..........................nope.

Still get 5/4 on Sky bet for any gamblers who might fancy a little flutter. No refund tho if it does go t1ts up :D

My guess is that Warnock would have bounced us back into the Premiership, we'd have then been searching for his replacement that Christmas... much better than what did happen though.

Wilder would be crazy to take that job. Stay at Northampton and get a promotion on your CV. Either way you're going to be in L1 next year.

Rotherham need a seven day a week man if they are to stay up, not someone running the show via the likes of Blackwell from his tractor four or five days a week.

CW is, as has been said, better to get a promotion on his cv. Clough got plenty of stick for not having that.

Sign him
Hes faster than collins
Oh you meant as management

Can't believe all these pro Warnock posts. It's called selective memories.
Yeh we played an uptempo direct style which was exciting when it worked but I remember plenty of terrible performances. When ever we lost it was always someone else's fault blaming the ref, pitch whatever.

Warnock failed his task of keeping us up. His position was untenable after the Wigan defeat and no doubt McCabe would have got loads of stick if he kept the failed manager with many Blades baying for blood. His cheap signings were often good but his signings of over a million tended to be bad. He was known a an excellent lower league manager but we had bigger ambition than that.

I think Warnock is a good impact manager for the short term but we need someone for the long term.
