They're a problem for everybody. At this precise moment I am looking at an invoice from an agent to a Championship club for negotiating the early termination of a player's contract. Under the agreement the player received the full amount due on the remainder of his contract (and signed for another club the very next day).

The agent trousered £184,800 + VAT from the club for what looks like a very quick conversation.

They are a problem for everybody but they are a problem every club has to deal with when it comes to transfers. Doubt agents become particularly pesky when it comes to dealing with United.

I'm still struggling on this.

Why do clubs pay agents anything?

If the Agent works for the player then he should get paid by the player.

Now I can understand if a club desperately wants to offload players and employs an Agent to search for and wide for a taker.

But if we want to buy a player from another club, how has our purchasing from them got Jack shit to do with an Agent? I'm pretty sure we are capable of engaging another football club in the same country, in the same language.

Wholeheartedly agree.

The attitude was that clubs held the upper hand years ago.

Now the amount money spent on agent fees every year is scandalous.

However, whilst not exactly the same, it's similar in my industry. We pay the employee and the agent for the privelige of them working for us on a non-permanent basis.

What makes me laugh is how some journalists wait for RC to post, then copy his info, as though they have exclusive info.
You can bet The Star will now run a story about his agent causing the delay, then other journalists will follow suit.
Or other posters go on Twitter copying RC’s info, then they try to take the glory pretending they have special contacts, it’s like Chinese whispers.

Lolz....in fact MEGA LOLZ.....

RC posts his update on here at 10.42...….at 10.47 Andy Giddings tweets....."understand reported interest in Ben Osbourne is genuine"....

Could be the same guy?

So it seems Maupay can choose to come here on very decent money and more than likely be first choice striker for a full Premier League season.

Or go to Villa or Sevilla on better money and be probably third or fourth choice striker coming off the bench every now and again.

Depends what’s more important to him.

Here's the exact reason why agents exist in the game.

Does anyone really believe Dan James would be on 60k without his Agent? Or Wan Bissaka on 80k?

If Dan was negotiating himself he'd probably be on about 25k a week.

Problem with Maupay isn’t with Brentford it’s with the agent but our camp are still very confident a deal will be reached. As I stated before the interest in Osborn is real and gathering pace. Not going to post for the sake of it but will when I have concrete news.

Good lad, I'm a subscriber too................

True. I heard a story a while back about a Derby player (think it was Seth Johnson) who was signing for Leeds when Ridsdale was throwing money away at the time. Him and his agent had agreed before they went in to cheekily try and get £15K a week or something, doubling his current wages. Apparently Ridsdale offered £25K and they both cracked up laughing. Ridsdale, looking a bit embarrassed then prompty increased it to £35K.

Cant see Villa going for him after signing Wesley to replace Abraham.

I would imagine Sevilla will only go for him if they lose Ben Yedder to Man U. I don't really see that one happening and will only happen if Lukaku moves.

From the information from RC I think (total guess work) that they are waiting to see what comes of the Ben Yedder to Man U deal. Can't really blame Maupay for wanting to wait out for a potential move to Sevilla over United.

I think this one could drag on for a while.

Makes sense though, what will James have been on at Swansea 5-10k max.

They'd have asked him what he wanted and he probably would have thought he was taking the piss asking for 30k.....

Agent gets him 60k lol

I just can't see him going to Sevilla. Too much of a gamble for them. Unfortunately I see us signing him with a few clauses - relegation being the obvious one and perhaps something around a European Club coming in for him. Then of course the bonus if we avoid relegation. Still, we'll more than re-claw our money back for him.

All geared for he and his agent making big money.

Scrolling through this thread for these nuggets is like panning for Gold

Was that Barnsley when they were a championship club by any chance?

Unless it was Leeds under Risdale offering the contracts.
