Might as well have a go in the FA Cup now

It will be a great opportunity for some of the fringe players to make a name for themselves.

Hopefully we draw a lower league team at home.

Like today, I’d selfishly like an away tie where I get to go to a ground I haven’t been to. West Brom, Swansea, Brighton, or Shrewsbury would be great.

Has Lundstram nicked your missus or summat? Really don’t like him do you. And that’s all this post is, a dig at one of our best players who you seem to have crowned king scapegoat.

He really doesn’t like Lundstram but for some reason won’t admit to it. He’s seen Leonard play once and is adamant that he’s a better a player.

We've got some decent back up players we can give a run in the cup matches - Wright, Sharp, Lafferty, CCV, Blackman & Lundstram...

Once again I’d like to point out the contradiction in your posts. You said we only sign players who are good enough to start in our first eleven. You’ve also now said that Lundstram is a back up player. One of those statements must be wrong. I’d ask you to explain but I’m fairly certain you wouldn’t be able to.

Judging by what the Fleetwood chairman was saying, they were expecting around 600k from the fa cup, they were on tv etc, so shall we say we might have got 2-300k today, plus another guaranteed maybe 500k for the next round regardless of draw and result, we have pretty much paid for Leonard, this might give CW a bit more money to play with in the JTW

You get £67500 for winning round 3 and £144000 if you’re shown live on tv. You also get 45% of the gate receipts. So today we won’t have got much over £120000.

Fleetwood will get nowhere near £600k unless they win the replay. If they lose they’ll get just short of £400k if it’s on tv again and depending on gates at Leicester.

After visiting The Arcade St Tav ( best pint of the day with Tolly Roger), The Greyhound (most friendly landlord), The Woolpack (great snug), The Dove ( best ale choice), The Lord Nelson ( best barmaid of the day), The Briarbank ( a brewpub with Sky) and The Spread Eagle ( ok but bottom of the days pack) and enjoying the Pre match atmosphere and ale in every one I would like a decent ale town to visit.

I haven't seen the results yet as I'm old fashioned and enjoy watching Match of the Day on Sunday not knowing the score, but wouldn't favour ale deserts like Bournemouth, Burnley or Coventry...

Brighton would be a good day out and the delights of Lewes sampled. I also believe they serve proper beer at the Amex. My last visit was to that running track three miles outside of the town when we sat on a home made bit of scaffolding and no pub for miles. Be nice to compare.

crikey won't even buy one of Leonard's legs :(

that was the whole cup run not just round 3 because they been on tv in every round 1st v Chorley & 2nd rd replay v Hereford

If we get squad reinforcements in during this window, and others back to reliable fitness, then yeah, why not, let's give it a proper go in the Cup.

As of right now, and assuming injuries will persist at existing rates for the rest of the season, I'm not sure we have a deep enough, or good enough, squad to have a proper go at Cup as well as play-offs.

I love the FA Cup and no matter what kind of League season we are having I always want United to progress in it. Some of my best Blades memories have been in that competition and it’s a huge part of English footballing tradition. It should be treated with the utmost respect.

Need a home tie which is being played on the Saturday afternoon (27th). Would be great if it was against one of the bigger clubs from the league above.

No, you must get this right in accordance with the unofficial forum rules, i.e. if I dare to be of the opinion that Leonard is a better proposition than the incumbent then that makes me a Lundstram "hater".

Once again I’d like to point out the contradiction in your posts. You said we only sign players who are good enough to start in our first eleven.

Try again, I said that United's policy was to sign players better than we have already got. In the example you seem to be getting your knickers in a twist about this means Lundstram was better than Whiteman or Reed and Leonard is better than Lundstram.
