If any one hasn't heard his interview I urge you, ney beg you, to listen to it.

I've had many an argument about him (I'm pro Doyle), but whatever you opinion you can't help but be stirred by his words.

I was going to post the same thing. I've stuck up for him on here before and thankfully he's doing a great job at present. He always does his best for the club and we could do far worse.

Also, did anybody see him remonstrating with the steward after the match to let that fan go who ran on the pitch?

I've been one of his very harshest critics and I'm not going to change my opinion on him entirely. But he's been entirely solid recently and played a big part of today.

I'll be the first to give him an amnesty until the end of the season.

Well played Michael. Keep it up.

I've panned him in the past (along with other players) more out of frustration. He is one of the most improved along with Murphs and Flynn. The interview was brilliant, that's what football is about, passion, love of your club and fans.

Not just thinking you are MASSIVE when you're not

Yeah

I saw that, nice touch, the stewards were been over aggressive and Doyle was right to intervene.

I'm just repeating what everyone above has said. I've been critical of Doyle in the past, but with the overall improvement in this great club of ours, Doyle has responded too, and anyone who slams this guy must be heartless. The interview with Doyle cuts right through all the bullshit and reveals a very human response, so well done Doyle, you deserve to lead this team, and walking out at Wembley will let you see what you can achieve....it'll also familiarise you and the lads for future visits to our national stadium UTB

What he said above

Great interview and he's played well since he came back after the sending off.

I think our formation now completely suits his game. Our midfield looks solid defensively and a threat going forward. Doyle's job is not find to find the killer pass to players up front but more often than not knock it wide to the wingers or switch the point of attack.

Big credit to Doyle but behind a lot of our recent improvements, you'll find one common denominator - Nigel just knows how to get the best out of our resources. He's a big fan of Doyle's, who are we to argue ?

Was fantastic to listen to Doyle there, he's taken on board the Montgomery role at United and probably a bit more stick, which a lot of Blades can admit to giving him, myself included.

But that was possibly one of the best interviews with a Blades player I have ever heard, even made me reminisce of his time at the lane, getting sent off, getting relegated, doing a decent job with McDonald, Williamson and Squinn, having a poor time last season, having an even worse time in the first half of this season, having a lot of stick after the first Fulham game, to then being totally solid, dependable (very much like today) and praised each week by those who once criticised him each week.

Even listening to Warnock seemed enjoyable, thinking back to that squad of players who made me so proud to be a Blade in 2002/03.

Fantastic day to be had by all today.

he been playing well it shows you he willing to put things right.

There now must be a dozen threads about Michael Doyle. I guess that Doyle can be summed up in two games.
Worst: Fulham – Home
Best: Charlton – Home
Make no mistake, Doyle got dug out of the crap by the rest of the team v Fulham and I was a little annoyed that Clough saw fit to bring him straight back after his suspension. It’s the one criticism of Clough that he didn’t apply the same to Doyle as he did to Brandy.
I’m not a major fan of Doyle, he’s often quiet and gets through games, perhaps too critical of his team mates sometimes. However, I didn’t really get into the lynching of Doyle after the Fulham red, I made my point and left it there.
The messages coming out of the club are that Doyle has been one of the key players in bringing the side together and I gather he’s well respected at all levels of the club. He’s been captain for some time but we’ve not seen noticeable captains performances.
However, yesterday’s performance from Doyle, despite being targeted by Charlton – they were trying to get him to react (Jackson by the corner flag), but he didn’t. He stood firm and was a leader. Close to being MoM, felt he was just edged by Coady in terms of performance, but he was immense. And his interview was, well, nothing short of fantastic. Showed what being at our club really means and the FA Cup success were going through was described perfectly by Doyle.
I feel he’s matured since his Fulham red. He needed to and good on him. Doyle is no longer just our captain. He’s Captain Doyle! He’d now be the first name on my team sheet for Wembley.
Who else would you now want to lead the side out at Wembley?

I've slated Popeye in the past , his performances weren't what you expect of a club captain , but since his sending off v Fulham he's been nothing short of outstanding , and that's been the difference between him and shandy , he's learnt from his mistake and gained the respect of his teammates , the manager , and most importantly us the fans , because he realised a bar was being set by Mr Clough and that bar meant that you get another chance , once your willing to accept your mistake and learn from it something since Shrewsbury , shandy never realised , tell me now brandy were would you rather be playing for Walsall , or walking out to play at wembley , since notts county what have you done down there , bugger all it seems. , always willing to give a man a second chance once you've learned from your mistakes , but you have to show you've learned from that mistake.
Going out to work , even prouder today to be a Blade than ever .
Would like to thank Crewe for giving our team such a kick in the bollox , it woke them up , and Mr Clough told them what is expected when playing for Sheffield united and a performance like that is never acceptable for a team like us , or to fans like us .
CYRRW UTB .

I've been fiercely anti-Doyle, but his improvement since the sending off shouldn't go unnoticed. He has performed like a REAL Captain. Case in point yesterday; When two of our lads were on top of their young player on the byline, not maliciously, Tudgay ran over to protect his teammate. Now usually Doyle would have ran over, joined in and mouthed off, but yesterday he jogged over, separated his teammates and diffused the situation with Tudgay. THAT is how a captain should apply himself, leadership by example and I can't help but think that Cloughs values are a factor to this change in Doyle.

I stand by my criticism in the past but that interview and his performances recently have changed my mind a bit.

Doyle will be fine, Baxter is the new one to constantly moan about. I can see it coming.
It isn't a straight forward roll what Clough is asking of him something a bit alien to him.

People could have have a go but I'm sure the manager is happy with the way things are progressing with him in that role.
I for one will keep my thoughts to myself at the moment
Have we got anything to moan at just now?!!

Yeah ive got something to moan about, im struggling to name a man of the match weak in weak out:p

Clearly Doyle gives more to the team than Brandy does. We don't need Brandy now we've got Murphy mk2 & Flynn mk2.

Doyle's game has improved due to his fellow midfielders digging in more. He's now doing what his job is and playing the short simple ball to Coady, McGinn, Baxter or the wingers. They're the creative players, Doyle was out of his comfort zone when attempting these balls and rightly so, he's a defensive midfielder.

It reminds me of Nick Montgomery. Clearly a very good player but when asked to do something that he's not good at (long creative balls etc.) he struggled and the fans got on his back.

NC has realised this quickly and removed Doyle from that position. He now holds a vital role in the team and is playing it very well indeed.

Swiss my friend, you understand little of the nature of football management if you think managers treat all players the same and apply rules strictly down the line....... they don't!

MOM yesterday and cut everything out and plays it simple. This is what he's good at. The other 4 midfielders have the legs to do the rest.

Little sympathy with any of the twat who went on the pitch. There was a big fuss in our area with someone who went on with their kid on their shoulders and then didn't like when they tried to lead him off, even once he'd dumped the kid.

Morons every last one of them.

Fairly easy for yesterday! Doyle was awesome, Murphy & Flynn were awesome, Maguire was awesome... but MOTM by a country mile for me was Collins. That was a Goliath performance yesterday. He's starting to remind me of a certain Mr Morgan...

Not just football that this applies to, it applies in other industries too. My expectation if you like was that Doyle would be pulled into line by being dropped after Fulham. But he was brought straight back.

As I said, this paid off with Doyle and I'm sure that there was a very frank discussion with Doyle about what was expected. Whatever, it's worked for him and I'm chuffed to bits that it has!

I'm not a Doyle fan, however the sending off could end up being the making of him, there has been a definite improvement in his game and attitude, he's a much better team player for it and we keep winning games.

Having listened to the interview I noticed NW referring to The Blades as 'us' and 'we'. I thought L**ds or was it QPR had the best fans......

I totally agree with that. How many warnings do people need before they stay off the pitch?
30,000 other people managed it. Pure selfishness and arrogance on their part.
It also undermines the club's important message about this when the club captain seems to condone it.
He shouldn't have got involved and left the stewards/police to get on with their job.

My only criticism of Doyle yesterday. From a footballing point of view, he was superb again.
