Pick off the best young talent from League One, where the fees would be fairly low and the wages cheap, and yet the ability of some of the players is that of Championship standard. Then if they are a success after a season or two, cash in for profit and reinvest that profit on a suitable replacement and strengthen another position. If you were our director of football, what would be your goal for 24/25?
We need to plan for the long term and not the short term as we have done for the last three seasons. If we are going to do a rebuild then commit to it, take it serious and be prepared to sack off promotion while the pieces are slowly slotted in over 2 or 3 seasons.
The problem with this is that
A) our fans will demand promotion
B) our fans will kick off as soon as we sell a player
