If you were our director of football, what would be your goal for 24/25?
Pick off the best young talent from League One, where the fees would be fairly low and the wages cheap, and yet the ability of some of the players is that of Championship standard. Then if they are a success after a season or two, cash in for profit and reinvest that profit on a suitable replacement and strengthen another position.

We need to plan for the long term and not the short term as we have done for the last three seasons. If we are going to do a rebuild then commit to it, take it serious and be prepared to sack off promotion while the pieces are slowly slotted in over 2 or 3 seasons.

The problem with this is that

A) our fans will demand promotion
B) our fans will kick off as soon as we sell a player

Not sure that the vast majority of SUFC fans would do, as I think most that we are now back to a defining point in our history again and that we have to rebuild a new team/squad. I think as long as we bring in decent new players and there is a clear plan and the rebuild looks like it is going in the right direction then they would placate most of us. Chuck in a couple of decent results into the derbies, and I don't see many 'kicking off'. Especially after the shit show of a season that we have had. Most fans are a bit numb and punch drunk and just want to see that we have a plan and that the team is evolving in the right direction. I still think we.csn do well next season but that's dependent on the budget and our recruitment being bang on thr money. Clearly there has to be a vast improvement on both areas.

Which just goes to show there is fuck all interest in acquiring his services from elsewhere. Ours is his best offer.

Tells its own story !!!!!!!!!!

Didn’t someone say they would be queuing up this summer ??😂

Please stop pretending what you type is factual.
You know nothing.
It's embarrassing.

Interesting that he wasn't included in the list of players released - would indicate that negotiations are ongoing or agreement is in place to extend. Same goes for Egan.

Yeah will be one of those under the "United have offered a contract to" heading

If McBurnie leaves this summer there will be suitors in the championship and of course Rangers are sniffing too apparently.

Biggest issue we have with McBurnie is keeping him fit enough it seems. And he has made the correct strides to get himself in better shape since the start of last season.

But your logic above suggests that because ours is his best offer that means he is not wanted anywhere.

He could well have been talking to clubs who are willing to up his wage a bit compared to us, but that McBurnie feels he is better suited to staying here and that is best for him and his young family?

Norwich amongst clubs rumoured to be interested in Mcburnie

If we sign him up at least that's a player for around 15-20 games, maybe him and Brewster can notch up 46 games between them

Can see Leeds coming in for him now too
Doubt it. They’ve got to find the fat end of £200m to pay for outstanding transfers, not sure how they also then outbid others on wages too.
It’ll be an interesting summer to see what their backers do next.

Other clubs skint seems to be alot less then ours, I'm sure after selling quite a few assets they'll still be able to pay decent wages.

Who would you say are their saleable assets that would be in demand for more than they paid/have outstanding?

Summerville and Gray would both fetch big money this summer and they cost very little they’d get a lot more than they paid for Gnoto as well.

Summerville, ampadu, James, Piroe for a start
More than £12m for Piroe after roughly a 1 in 3 record in the Championship when they’re despite?

Summerville only has 2 years on his contract so isn’t going to return big money.

James was reportedly over £20m so I can’t see them making money back on him, given he’s proven to be what many thought, a busted flush.

So they’ve got £200m owning, and let’s be fair surely no more than half can be due this summer, and Ampadu to sell.
I still think they’re massively short.

They've probably got a owner willing to put some money in to compete

I genuinely can't. See anyone buying Somerville he's not premier league quality

20 goals and 9 assists this year at 22 years old. History would suggest players with that kind of profile go to the prem. I think with them staying down you’re looking at 25-30 million for him unless someone gets desperate and makes a stupid bid. That’s the going rate for top championship players now.

Who would pay that ?
