You sell Brennan Johnson for 5 million and buy one of the top end championship players , same thing as you are saying cos he will only be a squad player at Spurs
£5m for one of the best strikers who was outside the Premiership ?

The post is pretty self explanatory in the context of this thread ,perhaps you should go back to the beginning and see where you got lost ?

Really great posts champagne and CM. Didn't think about you losing some of the experience as fans. I remember watching you (and David mcgoldrick iirc) ripping Man utd to shreds at times in a game at Bramall Lane at a point when you were really impressing in the prem and people thought you were going to Europe. Was that the season that got cut stopped and restarted? Must've been fun to duff up some established teams with real arrogant fans.

Another key but boring question, how did you all go on with playing fantasy football? I am contemplating on a personal rule of always having 3 forest players on the pitch. I won't do well but I can't having no stake in forest doing well.

Max lowe is the epitome of a £4.5m defender on there by the way to bring it back to topic

I did it the first year and it was quite amusing with Lundstram being miscast as a defender. Maybe Johnson could be 50/50 as a midfielder or striker and you do well from him. Usually one of the teams has scorers that surprise. Pukki did well for Norwich the first season. With you possibly playing just one out and out striker he could end up scoring a high percentage of your goals.

Overall I was pretty rubbish but it's more fun when your team is in it, even if you have a player in there as a token. Busy keepers can get points so maybe Hendo could be one?

Welcome to the forum sheffieldred, ignore some of the snide remarks and bitterness. Maybe the behaviour of some of your fans in the PO games (scumbags spitting and chucking bottles 1st, attacking players 2nd) might be the reason that there is a lingering resentment.

On that note, begrudgingly respect the miraculous job Cooper has pulled off at Forest and the players he's developed along the way - Johnson is a fantastic player and embodies the meteoric rise.

See this is the legacy of Kevin McCabe who crumpled at the first sign of another club flashing a bit of cash for our players.
NEWS FLASH we have a different owner now who is a bit more realistic on how life works, we will no longer be giving our players away pay the market price or fuck off. What more proof do you need that the scabs have been away from the Premier League even longer than the pigs and are totally out of touch with today's prices. £20m don't get you much, to think you can just go and pick up a player for £3m and a bucket of KFC is laughable, want anything decent and you need to start around £10m. I would say £5m for Lowe to a Premier League team is more than reasonable ......................... don't like it? Then take a fuckin walk.
£20m didn't get us much, with several players

I recognise those things about our fans but also acutely aware of the antics of Sheff united fans. I think it is representitive of society at the moment and it is worrying. No need to go into that old ground though.

What I found bizarre was in the 2 legs which were both epics in their own way had so much needle from both sets of players, your manager and even the way it wad refereed

I would like to think a rivalry between us has been reignited for the right reasons but it feels like its more likely to be about about fightly people which is a shame

Going to have to pick up on this point.

IMHO last summer we suffered from the fact we don't have a genuine DOF in place. A true football man would have seen that our entire set up/squad was build around a back 3 and identified the best managerial candidates based on that.

There's absolutely no way we would have gone for Slav and the stand out candidate would have been Cooper, who we would have got.

The most satisfying team for me to get points against in our case 3 was arsenal not because we have any particular rivalry with them but because of the attitude of their fans. Plenty turned up with the attitude that playing us was beneath them and the Bramall Lane was some kind of miners welfare stadium. Was very satisfying to send them back down the M1 with nothing.

Prepare yourself to be patronised like you wouldn’t believe but watching the meltdown afterwards is worth it.

True. I suspect West ham and West Brom occupy the slots for that kind of thing?

No they don't.

Like most clubs our rivalries are mainly local, for a couple of seasons (at most) we had some needle with Norwich.

If you've taken the trouble to post on here because you feel there's something you can stoke, you might be disappointed.

I do wonder at times why so many like to think they are some sort of rivals to us Blades? I don't consider many clubs to be rivals as such. I don't give a flying fuck about clubs like Hull City, Oldham etc who think they are some sort of local rivals ............... laughable. Always nice to put one over on Barnsley and Leeds the only real rivals are the pigs and for years now they have become rather insignificant despite their delusions of massiveness, always funny to upset the deluded fans.

I’ve always thought there’s a rivalry where supporters of two clubs overlap; where areas where Blades go to school or work with fans of other clubs and because we’ve got a fairly wide fan base, who we consider rivals depends on where you’re from.

If you’re a Doncaster Blade, then you probably see Donny as ‘rivals’ and on the occasions we play them, you desperately want us to win. But you probably don’t give a shit about Chesterfield. If you’re a Chesterfield Blade, you desperately want us to beat Chesterfield but don’t really care about Donny much.
Our proper rivals will always be the pork, but I think there’s a bit of overlap between Blades and Forest fans to the east and south of the city, out towards Worksop and places like that, on the Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire borders. So to some, we’re rivals, to others, like Blades in, say S5 or Forest fans from Nottingham and areas south of it, it’s just a bit meh.

Appreciate I'm opening myself up here and there is a big caveat for a certain element of Forest fans to get prickly about, but I see United and Forest ordinarily as clubs of similar standing.

The caveat is that Forest dropped on an absolute cultural, once in a lifetime phenomenon which was Cloughie, who has always been one of my favorite managers. He was destined to do it all at Derby but they didn't realise what they had until it was too late. You can never take away their 2 European Cup wins and the way it is stacked now with big clubs, a relatively provincial club will never achieve this again, just like a Burnley or Blackpool winning the top league.

Even so, United have won the league as many times as Forest, domestically have also won more FA Cups though fewer league cups and whilst success has been sparse since the 80s, we had played our football at the top level substantially more than any other level before this period. United were first in gates in the whole division this season, but the difference is paper thin with both averaging high twenties when doing well in the Championship and I dare say near sell outs if at the top table.

When I lived in UK a number of my mates were Forest fans and we'd meet up in Kings Cross after matches and if we weren't playing I'd go and watch them.

Most are a decent bunch but like any set it only takes a few nobheads to spoil it.

I do think they went a bit OTT with some of it and there was a bit too much overconfidence in their home record, especially when we did actually beat them at the City ground. But that's football. They've been in the wilderness for so long, you can't expect fans to not get carried away. As they say, that's football!

Sorry, but we never had a rivalry. We had a passionate couple of games because the stakes were high.

I don't think this is true, to be honest.

Maybe my view is somewhat warped by living in North Notts & therefore residing in a town full of Forest fans, but in all of the years I've been going to matches there's always been a rivalry between Forest & Blades.
It definitely has a different feel to your average game. The whole "scabs" thing plays into it.

I was in the Nelson pre-match where there were skirmishes in the car park separating their fans from ours. It was tit for tat. The hot weather and late(ish) kick off didn't help matters as everyone had had a skin full, but I wouldn't have expected similar scenes had the opposition been Huddersfield or Luton.

The post-match scenes at their place were disgraceful, particularly the Billy Sharp incident. However, hordes of Blades fans stood outside the Cricketers waiting for the away end to empty out and there was plenty of scrapping. We're no angels.

I'm not sure why the Forest lad is getting so much hostility, on the evidence of the posts in this thread he seems pretty respectful.

I’ve always hated Forest 🤷

He would have received a good respectful response for me but for his arrogant attitude.
I quote :——
”I think we could pick up a better squad player than Lowe for less personally.Later in the window I reckon you might take less, if it means you can sign one of league ones best players for instance.”

he entitled to his opinion, but the icing on the cake was to sign one of league ones best players. That and their attitude to seemingly take no responsibility for the disgraceful pitch invasion etc. Left me with no personal reason to show him any respect

You'd be hard pressed to find a Blades fan that rated Max Lowe's PL performances for us, so he's probably right re: them being able to pick up a better player. The reality with him is, nobody else wants him. So it's a buyer's market.

As for the pitch invasion / Sharp assuault... teenage keyboard warriors aside, nearly all Forest fans came out in support of Sharp and against the numpty who was rightly jailed.
If sheffieldred contradicts what I just said then fair enough, but I haven't seen it.

I'd have a bit of sympathy for your views on the pitch invasion if hoards of Forest fans hadn't made a bee line for the away end, Your team has just got a ticket to Wembley and your first thought is to go and taunt away fans and attack SUFC players 🤔 . Seen plenty of pitch invasions at the lane when we have had big wins but we don't celebrate by running to attack players and taunt away fans.

We literally did the exact same thing when we played Nott'm Forest in a cup match whilst in League 1.

I just went on Google to find some images, there's plenty.
One that I hadn't seen is a bloke bending over and spreading his arse cheeks at the away end. I chuckled, but it's extremely weird.

I really don't remember our fans ever attacking the players of other teams unless you can prove different ?.............................. thought not.

Yeah agree on this. I was saying it to my old man at the time how much it annoyed me. It happened in the huddersfield Luton game and even with Vieira etc and this is part of the depressing state of people's psyche these days "it's not enough for me to win, everyone else must lose too".

Not claiming that quote but I find it depressing that fans forget collectively we were locked out of football for 18 months. I would've hoped mutual respect for just being able to be present would last longer than the 5 mins it did.

Thought I'd clarified the league one point above. If not let me know. No arrogance

WBA (the battle) and WH (Tevez) were reasons I was thinking thor games have more significance based on a few instances. Norwich seems an odd one. Naively think of them as a nice bunch.

No, you're correct. My post was focussing on the "making a beeline for the away end" remark.
Which we were guilty of and have been on more than one occasion.

The attacking a player thing is obviously appalling as I pointed out further up. However, it was one bloke out of thousands. I'm not that confident that our fanbase doesn't contain one bloke of a similar disposition...

What about the dog nonce and his mates, I doubt Brewster, Bogle or McBurnie would agree with you.
