Forest fan here with a first post so hopefully not going in too controversially with post 1.
Lowe couldn't really get in because Colback was playing so well. Can't see him joining as a first choice given his injury record. For me we would only pay the premium to retain some of the squad that went up last season as the whole squad is very different. We have a similar situation with keinan davis and if I could pick one to spend that premium on it would be him.
I think we could pick up a better squad player than Lowe for less personally.Later in the window I reckon you might take less, if it means you can sign one of league ones best players for instance.
How mad is the preseason before the prem by the way? Everyone is £20m!!!! I feel uncomfortable not to be taking on 12 olympiakos cast offs. Still time in the window yet mind.
I think you've got to be expecting to pay about the same for what we paid you for Ben Osborn. Not sure how much that was reported from the Forest side, 3.5m to 4m?
He had a good season with you, albeit interrupted.
I imagine this preseason will be partly exciting with the exponential amount of links to new signings but also very frustrating. Wages are a big jump plus everyone knows you have 'new money'.
Also I'd imagine there will be some challenges that it doesn't look like you will be able to just keep the loan players and 5 is quite a few to get in to replenish your team, to the levels of the playoffs even before you think of improving it.
It seems there is an acceptance that Spence is not coming, Garner may get a chance at Man U and it isn't clear what happens to Zinkenargal. You'd expect Davis and Lowe if you're prepared to meet valuation.
Samba situation seem odd. Just got to the top level yet can't wait to jump ship. We loved Henderson and surprised his stock has fallen to joining a newly promoted team. He was linked with Newcastle and their project not long back. When we wanted him, Man U were looking at 30-40m and more but it seems he's been quite error strewn for them but he was very good for us.
Gibbs-White is an interesting one. Not clear on Wolves' intentions. No brainer for me they should be keeping him especially with some other players out of favour (Traore), aging (Moutinho) and linked elsewhere (Neves). It would be daft but he doesn't speak Portuguese so you never know! He does have some development. He can give the ball away a bit and it takes longer to get it back at PL level. You really do get punished for turning over the ball. His tricks and flicks were great when they came off. It seems all media driven the links. Maybe agent looking to get him an improved deal.
Such fine margins. Can't say I'm not a little envious. Were it not for Samba's Inspector Gadget legs in extra time, roles would have been reversed.
One thing I would say, the journey in the PL was far better than the destination. After a while the games you simply can't win and the constant cheerleading of the usual favorites plus the obscene wages you can't keep up with does start to grate.
