Same re keinan davis you are right. i love him as a player but I havent been bothered that we haven't made paying Aston villa''s ridiculous £15m "asking price" a priority. If he was available later in the summer for significantly less I would sign him

Re lowe, Two separate instances of a groin strain within the season, costing around 20 games, "indicates that he might be susceptible to injury". You might call that injury prone? Its not a dig.

The max amount of games he played on the spin for you was 5 or 6 right? Hardly the basis for a better opinion on his injury record.

£15m is the going rate for a good Championship level striker. The odds of them thriving in the Prem are always slim, but this is the marketplace you’re operating in now.

Personally, I’d spend it. You’ll need different options amongst your strikers, continuity is invaluable, and unless you unearth a foreign talent, you’ll be relying on loans for guaranteed Premier League quality.

We didn't at home but should have been 5-1 up going into the home leg so there's no doubt the better side went through. The season showed that too.
Better for around 30 minutes of the first leg, when we were terrible due to poor selection.

You're no great shakes and will likely finish 20th.

Why spoil it by throwing the Covid shit excuse in again?
it’s becoming childish
And let’s be reigh one game more
Nope what screwed our season up was injuries but not due to game overload
Also Forest due to their cup success also had a period of game pile ups
The postponements must have hampered us. It can't all be the training ground. Was it February we had to play a silly amount of games? I doubt many faced having 11 first team players out at any point. We certainly weren't a lucky team last year by any means, though I can appreciate other factors didn't help, like Slav getting it all wrong and teams like Bournemouth being sponsored by PGMOL!

Injury prone, only wanted as back up, not worth more than £2m, makes me wonder what all the fuss is about? Forest could just move on to other targets but maybe the lad has got something about him to make two dog nonces troll a Blades forum. Like others have said either pay up or jog on.

Give him us cheap, actually we don't want him, he wasn't that good. We are still here. 😄

I don't think he actually wants to be in Sheffield though does he? I got the impression he wasn't treated particularly well before his move to us...

I don't see any teams in the Championship spending that on Davis and certainly no other Premier League team so I think we'll wait this one out and get him later in August for £7/8m which would be a much fairer price.

We'll probably do the same with Lowe as well. In August you'll realise having 3 left backs is ludicrous when you're as skint as you are so you'll come begging us to take him for about 3m

Sounds like a similar strategy to Maggie's with the num.

Hmmm…. Good luck with leaving your business late. Your club knows it has an awful lot of business to do to stand a chance of competing, so seeing who blinks first on every deal is a fun strategy.

Sensitive lot on here ain't you...

Samba riled you all up good.
Enjoy your day in the sunshine lad, then after next season it's back we're you belong, and you can all put your shirts back in the cupboard till it happens again in another 20odd years👍

Majority of business will be done before the first game but there'll be one or two I'm sure coming later in August whose agents have been creating a bidding war.

I remember when we were promoted under wilder it was the third time in my lifetime we had been promoted to the prem and was still very exciting

All the things I was excited about like more media coverage ( doesn't last long )
Seeing better players ( bigger cunts )
And all the razmatazz associated ( soon wears thin )

I don't however remember even for a nano second contemplating spending my weekend ( week )camped out on the forum of a team we had just left behind ( even Wednesdays ) what a strange bunch you scabs are !

Yeah things will be much cheaper late in the window when clubs knows you are absolutely desperate 😂😂😂

You're completely delusional at how much players cost in the top flight these days, Villa would just not sell him rather than take 7-8m.

Just because we have three left backs now doesn't mean we will in August and there's no guarantee that Lowe will be surplus to requirements at that point, pushing the price up, not down.

The blind arrogance that everyone is going to wait around for your club and no targets will go elsewhere is kind of cute. Plenty of other promoted teams have thought the same in the past, most of them aren't in the Premier League now.

"Those agents, they'll come crawling back in the end."

Newsflash for you: they won't.

Agents will let a player rot on the bench with nothing but empty promises about january and next season before they'll give an inch to a club that wouldn't play ball. You've a lot to find out.

Villa will want to sell him though, not getting near their side and probably unhappy there. They value him at £15m which is ridiculous. We probably value him around £6m so we'll probably meet in the middle somewhere

You've said all that before
Its still bollox

Probably unhappy there? Why? Lot of big assumptions. Villa don't need to sell at all. They're not exactly skint and might be happy to keep him as backup's backup. Or they'll tout him around the championship as promotion winning player.

You're a newly promoted team, you're going to get rinsed in the transfer window. Championship teams know you have money and aren't going to do you any favours. Their better players meanwhile aren't going to have their 'heads turned' when you flutter your premier league eyelashes either because they know there's a high chance they'll only be there a season if they go and can probably hold out for a better offer from an established club eventually.

The top prem teams will offer you their 'promising youngsters' they've privately decided aren't good enough for them (but will still make sure you pay a premium). They might offer you one of their genuinely good players on loan with an exorbitant fee. You'll ask for an option to buy as well and be politely told to fuck off.

The middle to lower prem teams will offer you their older players "because you need some experience" (but will make sure you pay a premium).

Or you'll go overseas and play the lottery there, convincing yourself you've stolen a march on everyone else and nabbed a bargain who'll subsequently turn out to be a lot shitter than the obscure highlight reel you saw on youtube led you to believe.

Enjoy!

Keep him and play him ! If Forest reckon he’s good enough for the premier league that’s good enough for me ! We haven’t seen enough of him but many have already decided he’s shit ! They have seen more of him than us and think he isn’t!
As ever UTB !

Why is 15 mill ridiculous? That's cheap for a starting premier league striker. You are about to find out that being a minnow in the prem is like being fed to the wolves, absolutely everything is against you

Seems forest learning the hard way that they have to pay more now they are in the premiership:—-

Nottingham Forest have reportedly hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Mainz defender Moussa Niakhate.

The French defender is a target for the Reds to provide further competition for Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna and Steve Cook. Tobias Figueiredo has already left and Loic Mbe Soh is unlikely to feature in the Premier League.

Niakhate, 25, has a year left on his contract at Bundesliga side Mainz but negotiations have hit an impasse with the two parties apart in their valuations of the athletic defender.

This thread is fucking brilliant.

Am instant expert on Premier league transfers just because 7 loan players get them up... Ffs..

I'll give him a prediction, Dean Henderson will be their player of the season..

Supposedly Forest went in with such a ridiculously low offer that Mainz now don't want to deal with them.
Looks like the strategy of offering low bids isn't working too well at present, more just pissing off the clubs they are trying to recruit from.

But I agree, what they need to do it hold off right to the end of the transfer market and the clubs will come crawling to them begging them to take the players at the low amount offered.

Oh I do hope they follow this strategy, it'll be fun watching them scrabbling around for players as the windows closes and paying over the odds. They really are about to find out selling clubs want the maximum amount they can squeeze out of clubs in the Premier League, with a premium often being paid, especially if they are English players. They certainly don't give players away.

I don't agree with you on much but I fully agree with this post.

When we got promoted from League 1 my first thought wasn't to go on Scunthorpe's forum (a club who's fans had given us shit for bottling promotion a few times) to laud it over them.

Same with promotion to the PL I don't recall any of our fans laud it over Leeds or Wednesday at the time on their own forums.

It's weird on a par with with that Brighton fan that keeps coming on here to remind us that McBurnie isn't as good as Maupay as if it matters. 🤷‍♂️

As a side track on this thread. I actually think it will be interesting to see how Forest do next season. There seems to be a lot of hope and expectation this is the start of glory days. But really like all promoted clubs to the PL first stop is survival. They have a long way to break into the upper half of the PL consistently.
I think they've got a good chance to stay up but like every year in the PL who finishes below them? I.E who goes down?

Cooper got them going well especially in the cups but like many have mentioned they also had 5 key players on loan. If they don't bring those in then it will be a different squad/lineup and you never know how that can work sometimes.

Impressed with their signing Awoniyi. But they will need a fair few more in too.

The top end outcome for promoted teams without a wealthy takeover is to become a Brighton, Burnley, Palace, Bournemouth type club where you have an extended run in the top flight and improve your facilities before you’re raided by the rich clubs for your better players. If you’re lucky you’ll rebuild and stay in the division if you’re not you’ll get relegated and then rebuild from a higher base than the last time you were in the championship.

Forest better get real, there is a chasm between the championship and premier league, both in ability and wealth. The TV money is portrayed as an enormous windfall that will provide the promoted clubs with the ability to buy the quality players that will enable them to mix it with the established premier league mid table teams ……….Wrong !!
The truth is that unless the owners are prepared to invest substantial sums of their own personal wealth, then it is very unlikely you will be able to survive,it’s not only the inflated fee you will be expected to pay for ordinary players,it’s the 3 year contracts and massive personal terms the players agents demand, after all that,it’s shit watching your club lose week in week out !!
