We need new owners willing to spend some cash if they realistically want a return on their money so signing 34 year olds who didn't play last season seems a weird one. Not entirely against it but it'd be nice to buy a few with some potential resale value alongside these types.

Signing one man in his 30s, doesn't mean we aren't/won't be looking to bring in some good up and coming prospects as well though. You've got the likes of Burrows being talked about on here - more than 10 years younger than Ritchie, but I don't think that makes Ritchie a bad signing. Both would have roles to play.

I hope you're both including loans and assuming further sales to come to that number, otherwise that would leave the squad awfully bloated. Would say we need a GK, LB, 2x CB and a striker. Anything else is nice to have, not a need.

Wilder came in first game and went with wingers. Then we needed to push Archer out wide. Once we collapsed as a team we ended up with more defenders.

Would expect us to sign wingers.

I’d have zero issues in this signing. Really good left foot as mentioned already, older but not too old. Cant have a team full of youth players, we need some leadership within the group.. equally, we require 13 players still (arguably 16 with Garbage, Souza & Anel leaving )

We don’t need 4 wingers and certainly a total of 13 is not needed until we can see how good or bad the youngsters are in the Championship.
We then have a JTW and next summer’s window to finalise a decent squad.

Mate we let Osula go on loan to League one and he didn’t do it. The likes of Brooks aren’t at starting championship level. Maybe one day but not now.

Alright, that's cool, I don't think we're too far off what we think we need to bring in. I've always been on record as having more confidence in our younger squad players than most, I don't know about you, but that clarification puts us in the same ballpark

At the end of the day, remember what Wilder said, its not all going to young players, don't be surprised if some are 30ish or more!!!!! Until his injury bash was playing in the Prem. If this McCall type signing works, I for one would be very happy. We have no senior player experience at all, we will need it on cold nights up at Boro!!!!!!!

It is very obviously not “the sum of our ambition”, and I’m struggling to think why anyone would imagine it is. It’s a ridiculous comment and would be even without the imminent takeover.

In regards to the young players I don’t think we have anything special at the moment apart from Blaster.

Osula is next in line ability wise. He has the raw potential but it’s very difficult to see from the Premier League appearances. Judging from his loan in League one he doesn’t seem a natural goalscorer. He has other attributes which could make him be a useful impact sub though.

Brooks is a winger playing centrally so very difficult to see where his level is. He was incredibly safe last season going forward but again difficult to judge on Premier league appearances. Again is potentially a sub. I watched him for the youth a few times and he wasn’t really standing out there.

Peck is the one that has some real talent but maybe a year or so too early.

I believe all will have decent careers in the championship but I don’t think it will be this year could be a few years for some. That’s why I wouldn’t be relying on them this season.

Osula is almost two years older than when on loan. Several others have had PL experience and whilst not at that level have not yet been seen at Championship level. Let’s judge them when they have played a dozen or so games
We are unlikely to sign a dozen players of experience so the younger players will be needed.

Do we have a choice ? We can only take a few quality loans (which I agree with) but we will have to use our untried youngsters.
I am not expecting nor hoping for promotion this season , but want to see a squad that is improving and playing football I enjoy watching. Maybe next season we can have a real go at promotion and then competing in the PL.
