Books,I ain't trying to compare the two my point is about getting (over) excited about a player most of us know little about, nothing wrong with being pleased about it just I hope we don't get overly expectant as we were a short while ago about a player we again new little of called Enda Stevens.

I don't profess to know anything about the bloke, but if he is a rapid winger - Maybe we are looking to use the the wing backs for more attacking, since Wilder seems to want to play a more flat 3 midfield? If we do that, there will always be a CM to drop back and cover easier.

Don't know much about this Johnson feller tbh...Stevens does seem to have dropped off a bit since his introduction so hopefully some proper competition for places will get both at peak performance.

UTB!

You'll never stop fans getting excited over or otherwise, about a new signing, but totally get your point mate, I think we'll just have to trust Wilder and I don't think Johnson signing means Stevens will be permanently on the bench either. Also, it might be that Johnson plays behind the strikers at times or even as a left forward as well as potentially LWB.

To have someone with pace and a direct style is certainly pleasing though as we haven't had that, other than Brooks and Holmes and for differing reasons there both now gone of course.

No way George Best scores "that goal" at OT in 1971 if Hemsley hadn't gone off injured.

The buggers took in turns to kick Ted off the park, that way no one got sent off. It was systematic, incredibly nasty and obvious to everyone but the referee.

Whatever next, a white Leon?

Isn't this all part of improving the squad bit by bit? The changes are often gradual, so we don't see radical leaps of form and therefore we assume a blase attitude.

Egan is settling in nicely, alongside JOC and Stearman, with Henderson repaying the faith that Wilder invested in him. I have a quiet confidence that we'll begin to show some of the form that we know we're capable of. Given some of the financial horror stories we hear about, where clubs spend big because they don't have the smarts to spend intelligently, I have no doubt that we're better off building bit by bit until we look capable of competing in the Premiership.

For those of us who blew a fuse recently, while I have some empathy with the frustrations felt, it was far too hasty and far too transparent with an agenda shared by a handful of discontented Blades. Time will tell, maybe this season we'll remain in the Championship, I won't mind too much as long as the signs are there that we're getting better as a team. A big ask? Let's see. But we're here on merit and that alone fills me with enough optimism to hope that the next few months increases our points tally.

Best typified by the likes of Joe, Joe, Joe!

Joe Bolton was my first ever 'favourite player'. He scored in the first match I went to (against Bolton, which I thought was hilarious given his name).

I always liked Tommy Cowan for getting stuck in.

I met Joe once. Nice unassuming bloke.

Barry Butlin was my first ever favourite player because he scored once at Butlins in Skegness apparently. His strike partner, Jeff Bourne, scored in South Lincolnshire.

Back on topic though and this bloke Marvin Johnson... are we really serious?

He’s a complete dud according to a workmate of mine who’s a big Boro fan. Done absolutely nothing for years for them under several managers. Said he’s worse than Jordan Rhodes!!!

If we get him for next to nowt then, ok, worth a puntt but please let’s not have the usual “Reyt player” drivel on here just yet?

Johnson in the Boro team tonight, which maybe indicates a move isn't imminent.

He's literally only been there since last summer, so not done owt for years? Also, Jordan Rhodes, whether we like it or not, at the right team would be top scorer in this division. wasn't fleck shit at Coventry?

Fleck was player of the season when we took him.
