Our defending is bad yes, but we have our second choice back line and keeper out.

That doesn’t excuse having no shots in target though, as we’ve looked ok going forward.

well i think that's the best we've looked since we came back
My thoughts too, quite easily the best we have looked. Man U look really good going forward. We look dodgy at the back, not surprising with Egan, Henderspn and JOC missing

This seasons over.
Norwood and the left side of defence pathetic since returning
Jags is long past it
Moore should be released at 90 mins
There is still no service for the Strikers

Man Utd don’t look all that in defence it’s just a shame we are clueless when we attack

Maybe it's a ploy to catch everyone off guard. Look useless for the first 3 games and then storm our way to European football and an FA Cup.

I don’t think you can really blame Moore, the defence is dire but he seems to dramatise the simplest of saves.

Might be a bit harsh but a question did just occur: would it have been better to have had Stearman in both of these games rather than sign Jagielka?

An away game at Old Trafford without Henderson, O'Connell and Egan, what was anyone realistically expecting given the two shit performances since the restart? I'm not too upset about the result and performances are going to be a bit off when we've lost half of the defence.

This reminds me of our first season back in the Championship. Great first half of the season. Pretty average from New Year to the end of the season.

At least we'll still be in the Premier League next season. There's some big summer recruitment to be done as the majority of Wilder's summer signings haven't made the starting 11, which is worrying for the money he was given.

Like Henderson did at the weekend you mean?
Yeah exactly like that. Apart from Henderson's once in a million, Moore seems to have the same error over and over. If I remember rightly, he had a bit of an issue with it in the championship.

Not sure what Moore is supposed to do when his middle centre half is just fucking walking about all over the pitch leaving a massive fucking hole in the defence.

In terms of playing football, the first half was actually okay given that this should be one of the stronger defences in the league.

But our defending is just a joke, I mean CB's GK and full backs are all just doing nothing. How can Wan-Bissaka possibly just run through you when it's so crystal damn clear that he's gonna do that?

Henderson probably would have saved both goals tho.

Yeah alright then.

Do we really have to have Mr fucking Man Utd Gary Neville rubbing our noses in it at every opportunity?

We'll do well to come away with a 2-0 defeat here. On the bright side, I thought Lunny and Fleck looked better but come on lads, have a shot ffs!

On a positive note, McGoldrick has held the ball up and played a lot better than the front players of the last 2 games.

We could do with Mousset deciding he can be bothered to play next instead of keep sitting down with the face on.

He would have given a lot of penalties away in the Prem. I seem to think he gave a fair few away while he was in the Champ and Prem refs are ridiculous.

Half time thoughts.

We seem to have had the wind knocked out of our sails. The early goal killed us after an encouraging start. The players don't look like they believe they can win. We look like we're here for a Cup match.

The defending is atrocious, they're cutting through us at will. The change in personnel is a major factor in this, but we have to have better in reserve. Jagielka is all over the place, Robinson does look limited & Moore isn't getting close to anything (why does he go down so quickly?).

Enda Stevens & Oli Norwood continue their poor post-lockdown form. Norwood better than the other night, he at least has hit a few good passes but it's probably because he has more movement in front of him.

Baldock & Basham plugging away. They at least look to have some fight in them. Quality is lacking in the final third mind.

Lundstram, anonymous. The one time he had an opportunity to shine he blasted the ball over, with plenty of time & space, from about 25 yards. Not good enough.

Going forwards, we're so much better with McGoldrick in the team. He slows things down, we get bodies up the pitch & we keep the ball so much better. We actually play through the lines when he's on the park. Our best period of the game, 25-35 mins, he was at the heart of everything. However, even during that period we didn't look threatening at all.

Mousset. Lots of talent, but for me he lacks heart. He looks like he doesn't fancy it tonight. Not really putting himself about, then going down with an "injury." He does this most games, personally I think it's to get a breather (could be wrong). His body language is negative. I can see why Wilder doesn't want to put too much faith in him. I can see why Bournemouth got rid of him. I'm not sure if anyone will make a top Prem player out him while ever his attitude remains like this.

The game is over. Might as well make some changes. Mousset has to come off for starts.

We’re being out performed by a multi million pound side who are just miles better than us. I hate losing but let have some balance and perspective.

We've been better going forward, I'm a lot happier with this than Newcastle and Villa.

We've been shithouse at the back though. Think Stevens needs to be reminded he's one of the best wingbacks in the Prem.

You could use that quote against every team in the premier league. Not a fucking good enough excuse.

Man Utd are 2-3 yards faster and far more aware than our players. They are worth much, much more and that pace and quick thinking is what they pay the big bucks for.
I don't care what anyone else says, regardless of what Chris says before and after matches in his interviews, this Sheffield United squad is 'on the beach'. "Job done". "See you next season".
No heart. No desire, and in that first half, no bollocks shown to hold the ball and find a pass, let alone actually have a shot at goal (Lunny apart).
We really aren't in a position to complain. They have done us proud this season, and then some! But this is so, so disappointing given our progress.

UTB

We're going to draw 2-2 and a new legend will be born in Sander Berge playing in his new role!

Let's see how Berge looks in his proper position.

I'm all for perspective, and agreed, I expected nothing tonight so hardly a shock that we are losing, but cmon how much space are we going to give their players? can't we put a challenge in? can we have a shot when the chance arises... These are basics and we look all over the shop. CW has made 2 changes at half time, maybe he's also not happy with our naivety.

All I want is that we make it difficult for the opposition and make a game of it.

What this will make clear to wilder is some of our second string/replacement players simply aren’t good enough for this level. Got to to invest in this area next season.
Another thing to mention is if your one of the regulars your not going to have any confidence in the replacements around you, so realistically can we even expect anything else?

Nope Henderson wouldn’t have saved them
