Man U

As for Man Utd, well, they are the best and they lead the way and what they've done with Moyes is really quite good. A 6 year contract for starters. What they are saying is that Moyes is long-term. Moyes would have taken a 6 month contract so I don't think 6 years has come from him. This is England's biggest and best club stating that they intend to keep Moyes for 6 years at least. If they have a disaster next season, then I think Moyes will be there the next season too. And if they had a bad season again, I think Moyes will still be there.

Moyes will be gone by the summer when MUFC fail to qualify for the CL.

Unlikely. Ferguson has got his man and he sits on the board, he personally thinks Moyes is the outstanding candidate to take Man Utd on and continue their success. Like I said, I think that if Moyes fails in the first couple of seasons, he will be retained. He will have all the help he needs to make it a success.

A Ferguson endorsement, with Ferguson still around says to me it will be successful.

....And by the way, that Mike Phelan suggestion is one that appeals! If he's definitely retiring this time and is looking for something to do I'd look at Paul Scholes as well!

They were Heaton Mersey when we were the first United. they don't even play in Manchester, they are from Salford, so they are not Manchester or United.
Everton were traditionally far bigger than Liverpool until 1960's.
Things change. We are small because we think small.

No sorry they were Newton Heath, formed out of the Lanashire & Yorkshire Railway employees. Was a depot at Newton Heath for years - oops revealing my gricing tendencies. Became Man U in 1902.

Newton Heath Heaton Mersey, whatever. My point remains the same. They are neither Manchester or The Original United. WE are the United. We are proud to display the name of the city where we are. We are small because we think small.

Man U did have the benefit of knowing early on Fergie was off BUT it really is how you go about appointing someone new. Man U had the man they wanted in mind and went for him...end of.

Us on the other hand knew we were going to let Wilson go but hadn't a clue who to replace him with or who was available. Then just assumed Morgan would do for now and that he might see us through.

Totally cack handed everytime from the Blades and people wonder fans like me have lost faith.

Did McOwner, know that he was going to sack Danny, until he got out the wrong side of the bed that morning.
Planning ahead doesn't seem to have been one of his qualities.

When you say McOwner I now think Bramall Lane will become a branch of McDonalds.

True it did seem like it was on a whim.

He knew he would sack him... He just didnt know when. But as long as he avoided a shoes off protest, then McCabe is happy

Phelan brings back memories of Brian Kidd :(

And McCabes mind was made up by events after the game against Crawley I heard.

It's cause and effect though isn't it. Are they successful because they have lots of money, or do they have lots of money because they are run successfully.

If they'd been run anything like we have for the past five or ten years they'd probably only have a fraction of what they've got now.

What would be wrong with us trying to emulate their style on a smaller scale?

good strong board providing funds ,
footballs set up now so the more you pay the more you win

management just manages egos now at the top level
