Player Suggestion Luke Freeman

All advertisments are hidden for logged in members, why not log in/register?

Freeman’s been in the top 3 players on the park every time I’ve seen him play against us or on tv. No brainier if we can get him.

Would have to disagree with that one. (Last disagreement for tonight! Promise! :P) I think coutts was detrimental to our success during the league one domination. He held all the keys in midfield, put in some classy and elegant displays throughout the season imo.

Still not as good as Fleck though.

He might have been at some point last season but having not played since November there’s no way anyone can say he’s currently our best player

You thought Paul Coutts was our best player? And by some margin? Not a cat in hells chance!

I think a lot of people are looking at it in hindsight. We were top when Coutts got injured and our season fizzled out without him. We missed him massively but I still maintain we miss Fleck and sometimes even Duffy more than we did Coutts.

Coutts was class when he regained full fitness and could be arsed to turn up after being revved up by a proper manager, but he will never be our best player by some margin, that imo is very disrespectful to the many good players around him.

I wouldn't say disrespectful for some. Each player will know their strengths and weaknesses. Coutts was one of if not the best midfield player we have at dictating the tempo of the game. Also one of the best passers of the ball.

I’m not disputing that but you need more than those attributes to be the best player at a club by a considerable margin.
 



Is there any evidence that CW is interested in Freeman? We know he is in Waghorn and probably Woodburn but this thread has reached 5 pages from a "player suggestion" We can only "lose out" on or "miss" players if Wilder was interested in the first place.

Totally wrong!
We can 'lose out' on any player whose name is mentioned in any way, shape or form (including mis-spellings) in any context on these boards.
And it will always be down to McCabes' lack of ambition :)
 
I wouldn't particularly think of Freeman as a typical exponent of 'Pulis-ball'. Knowing M'boro do pay very well, I wonder if that alone will be enough to seal the deal or Freeman and his adviser/s would look beyond that and things such as likely playing time, style of play, virtues of the manager etc if Utd are indeed interested. I also wonder who he thinks has a better chance of going up next season.

The key contributor was Clarke’s phenomenal performance in the first half of the season. No doubt we missed Coutts, but Leon’s regression to just “very good” contributed as well!

Coutts was perhaps not our 'best' player, but he was our most important player at the beginning of last season and most of the Championship season IMO. Ball retention, created tempo, brought the ball out really well from the back, did the right things most of the time and allowed Fleck to be more of a creative force.

Back on topic, though. Freeman would be a great addition and would really push Duffy - Holmes didn't get anywhere near doing that.
 
Just had a look and it would seem he isn’t for sale for £3m as reported, so it’d take a considerable offer so I think we’ll be out of this one

Coutts missing from the Trinity did the damage. Not just the player , missing that nucleus brought down so many other plays that we couldnt cope and so pressurised the strikers. I can't think of another recent missing player having that effect since Chedwyn.
