At this moment ALL the top teams around us are getting beat. If we can win on Monday we will go top. Donnie are doing us a favour. COYRAWW. :)

It's all in our hands. I'll take another dull 1-0 if it means us going top and still unbeaten.

Nowt wrong with that Mick. Trannies only picked up point at home. Let's hope we can get a good home win to stick us level.

I don't understand why people think Donny winning all the time is doing us a favour? They're breathing right down our necks and not playing too badly to boot!

Pigs won,
two teams above us dropped points
Can go top if we win
We're on tv
Unbeaten in 14 games

Yep its nailed on for a defeat on Monday
That is my worry Swiss, we dont usually do well when we're on the telly.
Lets hope we have a good un. Also the omens are good, cos the leaves have fallen off the trees I can now get Sky again. :)
My house is surrounded by trees so I only get Sky sometimes.

Weren't we meant to be watching out for Bournemouth since the start of the season? Despite all their firepower, they're bobbins. The return of Howe will make (well, has already made) a difference, but they're not going to be troubling the top six any time soon.

I don't buy into the Swindon hype either, but they're doing a decent job of proving me wrong thus far. I can't wait for them to fall away. Di Canio is a wanker of the highest order.

Weren't some of us saying that Tranmere were up, away and uncatchable a week or so ago? After 12 matches? That only one promotion place was realistically available?

Ah well, knowledge comes with experience I suppose.

if we can improve just a little bit then promotion is there for the taking, its early doors yet and other teams around us will have dips in form, but i honestly believe that we are just a good wide man short of being too good for this division . cant wait for monday night utb

Can't you chop some of 'em down or at least cut 'em back - this would be a tragedy for me

I think you'll find I said Tranmere were shit and wouldn't last the pace. See, I know best

Was that aimed at me?

I can't remember who it was, but someone posted that Tranmere would likely be 20 points ahead of us at some stage and that we were already playing for second place at best. I think I offered a wager and all was then quiet.....

There were others who said "Don't write Tranmere off..." I did. I do.

I'd prefer to think that football makes arses of us all from time to time. No one in spite of age or experience is immune.

Agreed, but when you've been following the game for a few years you know that Promotion is not won or lost after 12 games! You've seen plenty of comets blazing their trails, only to fall rapidly to Earth; You've seen titles won from seemingly hopeless positions and teams relegated from near-safety.

I agree that none of the rest of you are immune. :)

Pinchy the only thing ever certain in the game is that Sheffield United will continue to find new ways to fuck up winning positions, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in ever more creative methods.

Now whilst I agree with this, I am almost (almost, but not quite 100%) convinced that last year cannot be topped and we may have exhausted our search for the perfect fuck up.

How can you top being almost certain for automatic promotion only for your top striker to be sent down (unique situation 1) and then being on the receiving end of the opposition missing their first three penalties (has it happened before or unique situation 2) only for your goalkeeper to miss the final penalty to stay down? It can't be done and so, I believe we have peaked and may now resort to being a normal club that just gets promoted and relegated like any other without the drama and pain that we appear to crave.

Last season was our "4 minute mile" and "man on the moon" in one fell swoop, we will hopefully never see it's like again.
