Great result on Saturday and what we want is more of the same. Let's take things a game at a time though and enjoy the journey not get too focused on the end target.

February always looked a tough month and we've made a great start but it could go south very easily so let's not get like our porcine Neighbours.

That said, I don't think it's too early to suggest Chris Wilder is pushing a lot of the right buttons and setting the club up well for the future.

Granted he's had to sell of some family silver in DCL and Ramsdale to keep us on an even keel but promotion is everything and neither were key pieces in this season's first team jigsaw.

There's a lot to like about the way Chris has laid the foundations with a nucleus that can grow together.

Should we be successful he's already got a decent midfield platform to build around in Fleck, Coutts, Carruthers and Duffy plus Whiteman is making all the right noises at Mansfield.

He'll need better squad options than McNulty, Done and Clarke but you can see Sharp, Hanson and Lavery all bringing something to the table. Just a question of how far the Budget can stretch to complement them.

Point being with these complemented by Freeman, O'Connell, Moore and Lafferty, all of an age to improve, whatever division we are in there should be less need to start all over again.

For once it feels like we have a plan.

Let's not count those chickens but the turnaround has been quite remarkable.

Too late! I've already mentioned the Promotion word........but you make completely sensible points fella, there are many games to be played and fortunes can quickly change. Of course, should we enter the Championship some will go and newer, better players will join those who remain. The best thing for me is that previously, under other managers, I had low expectations about the quality of players we'd bring in. Not so now......we've a manager with an eye for players who'll improve the status quo. Wilder's attitude seems to be that no one should make assumptions, so if they don't perform to a satisfactory standard they'll be replaced by a player with something to prove. Exactly what we've lacked until now......someone with the right type of cut-throat attitude, who'll change the squad through evolution and maintain the desire to move forward.

I think the chickens were counted a few weeks ago CB before the blip which resulted in the mass panic which affected some of the board. They're clearly counting them again!

Agree with most of all the OP, except not counting our chickens just yet... Come one lets get real here we are not going to jinx the team from a post on a forum. We will not only win the League but we will piss it and will be at least 10 points clear by the end of the season

Champions

That could have been lifted verbatum from Pork Talk.:(

Surely part if the enjoyment of winning, being top, playing well is talking about the future, short - this season and medium - next season, whats wrong with it, fans all over the country do it, its because you are a fan and you cannot help but get caught up in the excitement of having (up to now) a successful season, I agree there is no point in going over the top, but one game at a time, nah, thats for Wilder and the team to do, I bet everybody who says one game at a time when they are in the pub talk about the next few games, in fact I hear more about our games with scunny and Bolton as I do about rovers tomorrow, and nobody I talk to goes to far with it, I want to enjoy the ride while on the journey not just when/ if we go up.

Why not?

It is the year of the rooster...

Agree with that, I think part of the reluctance to mention promotion is that somehow we'll invoke some kind of hex or gypsy curse. The truth is, the only thing that can prevent us from gaining automatic promotion is if Wilder or the players drop a bollock and the form of the team begins to fade. Somehow I can't see there being a lack of focus or desire to gain promotion. Can you imagine being part of the current SUFC squad and not wanting to play in a higher division? At this stage, I'd put my money on the players knowing what's at stake and doing their utmost to achieve promotion. Personally I don't care whether it's as Champions or in second place, but I can see why the players would want to collect Champions medals. Onwards and upwards, as each game is played, as points are collected, we're getting closer and closer to leaving this division.

If one of these chickens crosses the road, is it counted in the attendance figures?
