This isn't entirely unprecedented. Zidane left Real Madrid and returned less than a year later after arguing then resolving with the board.

I firmly believe that Chris Wilder is the right person to get us up next season. With that said a break for the rest of the season will do him a lot of good.

Klopp and Guardiola took time out of the game so there's nothing wrong for him to do so as well.

I hope that, should we go down, that when the board considers it's new manager that Wilder is in the frame and similarly Wilder feels that he can work here again realising that there is no place better for him:

The absolute hypocrisy of this thread is astounding. No doubt you’ll link me to the handful of times you said something positive about Wilder, as if that negates the hundreds upon hundreds of posts where you’ve been suggesting we’d be better off without him.

I’m sorry I didn’t infer that you implying Wilder should be replaced came with the caveat that he comes back after we get relegated.

Probably true. Though were the bridges so badly burnt that it would irretrievable? Are one or both parties too proud to consider it?

If Wilder called the club up to apply would the club consider it? If the club called Wilder up asking him to come back would he tell them to do one?

If we end up with Paul Heckingbottom and Wilder's best job he can get is at Wigan is that really for the greater good?
