Leicester points deduction next season?

9 points is not much it means they will probably still be in the play off picture come the end of the season
But if you know you're much less likely to get promoted this season, can the owners justify keeping your best players and paying big wages? Will your best players not be desperate to leave?

9 points is a lot. In the year they got promoted that takes them from champions to third.

2 Isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things but added pressure on games for us until that bad week.

9 is "only" 3 wins but if there's a close run race that's a big deal.

Looks like Leicester are going to get away with 'crimes' yet again.
It will NOT affect us except if we do better than it is looking (no players re no big CB's again and VINI gone, shit formation and tactics)
We are not going to be top two. Ipswich plus Soton if the manager is not brain dead. (they sold many players last relegation so are assumed to be OK as well)
Leicester are NOT going to be deducted enough points to not make the playoffs (9 is the rumour for THREE years of violations)
Unless they rip the side apart - which they won't as they need to go back up.
(So we still have to be better than them unless their manager F's up like Wilder 60 minutes in)

Agree - 9 points off Burnley or Leeds this season and they're only a point ahead of us - you can't account for the psychological pressures of being in an actual race.

If Leicester have a poor/middling start those 9 points could easily be the difference between 4th/5th and 9th/10th. very interesting to see what happens and how they start the season

It will be -9 points initially, but will be reduced on appeal. Likely they'll end up with something like -6. It won't affect them much in terms of promotion prospects.

https://filbertway.com/2025/07/17/c...esh with, certain managers with transfer funds.

There is naturally going to be biases with a Leicester City blog however according to this blog they aren't predicted any transfer embargos or points deductions. To quote them from the above

"
The last debate was about 12 points, this time “special experts” are saying 9 points deduction. Do not believe the EFL will hand Leicester a win and start with 3 points plus this season. There are also talk of a transfer embargo, no news about that at this point either.

We believe that all matters will be sorted in the best way possible. This will allow Marti Cifuentes to play his team in the opener vs. Sheffield Wednesday in a new kit. We believe Bilal El Khannouss and Wilfred Ndidi will be in the starting line-up. Leicester will start fresh with no transfer embargo and no points deductions...."

I'm surrounded by Leicester City supporters and their expectations this season are one of rebuilding. None of them are talking about bouncing straight back.

They're not spending any money as it seems the Chairman is either losing interest or doesn't have it. Ndidi is almost certainly on his way.

I haven't seen them make many/any signings, and unlike previous seasons aside from Ndidi they haven't got much to sell.

Given the state of the owners’ business there is a potential financial meltdown coming at Leicester. Forget any points deduction, their problems might become deeper than that. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them up for sale.

Leicester have just taken out a new loan from the Australian bank Macquarie. They've had a few off them now. It's how they've kept a cash flow. This one is covered by their latest Prem money they would have received. So they have to keep paying interest instead of receiving the money at a later date.

They have several players on Prem wages they can't afford and don't seem to be able to move on. Most of this loan will go on their wages if they can't get rid of them. Looks like they're in serious trouble if they don't go straight back up and it won't be easy for them with a decent points deduction.

It's about time their past caught up with them. When they went into Administration in 2002 they ended up not paying everything for their stadium and not paying local businesses and also at least 1 charity.

Leicester are the biggest cheating bastards in the history of English football, they've been thumbing They're noses at the FA and premier league for years and getting away with it.
