LEGAL ACTION MUST BE TAKEN NOW

No but my point is that taking legal action would be ridiculous and get us nowhere. For me the VAR ref is just as much to blame. As Wilder said, if he had stopped play and asked the ref to look it would have been given. Because the keeper was holding the ball against the post it was as clear as day but the VAR ref didn’t have the bollocks to say “hang on a minute, we need to look at this”. He had the power to intervene and chose not to.
What do you think the VAR rationale was behind the decision not to get involved? If it was in, which it was, the whole world would see it by half time, it’s not like it would quickly be forgotten and the problem go away. Surely they’d have a look to make sure they weren’t left embarrassed by the situation. If it was me I’d be having a look out of curiosity if nothing else.

Legal action after, or changing the goal / result after makes no footballing sense.
At 0-0 both teams play a certain way, make different subs etc etc. It is all inter-twined.

Agree it's bollocks and var / 4th official should have intervened. Ref should have been called to the monitor.

Replay the game from 43 minutes on with us 1-0 up.

Now there is football precedent for that.

Respectfully disagree. Don't care what the rest of the world thinks about us. I want Europe. I am sick of us being punished for being too nice.

In fact I think there is still a lot of resentment towards us anyway.

How much are the legal fees going to be? 500k? That's the same amount Berge would have got in wages since he got here. It's a tiny gamble which could pay off and make us the next Leicester.

All the best teams in the world are whining ***** . I want us to be among them.
Can you imagine football around the world if a precedent was set by a court that you can challenge a decision after each individual game? You would be waiting 12 months for the final table

They should have looked immediately. I can understand if it was in the middle of the goal and questionable but it was tucked nicely inside the post. Hawkeyes 7 cameras might not have picked it up but everyone else did. Surely the VAR ref saw the same thing? One other point not mentioned. If the cameras failed to pick it up then how come Hawkeye managed to inform the ref at half time?

Forget the legal action what we should be doing is petitioning to see the video from all 7 cameras. If they issue an apology and make a mistake then publish it. Why cant we see the video showing the occlusion ? In the past when the ref's watch has not gone off and we've had such an incident you see the computer graphic showing it wasnt a goal so how come we didnt see it in this occasion ??

Obviously they can not because the real reason is the cameras were not switched on recording. My theory is there was heavy rain and I bet water got into the system somewhere and the camera's failed.

Did that happen as a result of the Uzbekistan Bahrain match from 2005?

These are very specific circumstances. For another example results were overturned in the Italian match fixing scandal.

This was gross negligence and a technical error.

Replay the game from 43 minutes from 1-0 up. It has happened before in football.

The balloons was 'lucky' but perfectly legal. And it was City's fault anyway.

One the other hand, Carruthers and Fleck have favoured us with some choice dives for penalties in recent years.

Btw that one is hardly mentioned either. This was before Man City are the Man City they are now.

As soon as it happens to Liverpool it’s one of the most famous things to happen ever despite it being almost 2 years after the first time it had happened.

We will get nothing other than token apologies for this which they can shove right back up their arse as far as I’m concerned.

I went to bed angry and I have woken up still angry about this shafting.

We should be in 5th place, we should have 3 points. We should be above Man U.

We have been robbed and EVERYONE knows it.

They hide behind the technology failures, but the whole point of VAR was to stop injustices happening. So why did those numptys in Stockley Park not step in?

There must be something the club can do about this. We can't just roll over and get patted on the head yet again.

And if you are as angry as me, just think how the owners feel. The chance of European glory for the club and the brand with all the revenue that comes with that has just slipped a bit further away.

Its a total disgrace and I really hope the club are actively looking at avenues to sort something out.

I'm sick of getting shafted this season. VAR is happily used to fuck us over but is not used when it can sort out a travesty like this.

The game changed if the goal was allowed. We might have lost. This is deflecting from the fact we were very poor, only created one meaningful chance all game and looked like a bottom three side

That's not the point.

With respect batman - this is not deflecting from the fact that we were very poor, that is irrelevant to the fact that we scored the only goal in the game.

The ball crossed the line and everyone accepts this, but between the ref, the assistant ref, Hawkeye and VAR, no one acted correctly to award a goal.

The result has to stand but that does not prevent clubs who are financially penalised by the technical ballsup from taking legal action.
The Tevez case is a good precedent. We got compo as a result of the wrongdoing of WHU. In this case it’s Hawkeye and VAR who are at fault. We stand to lose out a bit financially if we miss out on Europe. But that is nothing compared to the loss of whoever gets relegated if Villa stay up by 1 point.

If there is no punishment for those who are responsible for this, there is no justice.

That's not the point.
We can't be given the points and we wont take legal action. A mistake was made which happens in most games by officials.

We cannot claim we would have won the game as the dynamics of the game would have changed .

It is a sport. A mistake has happened which, hopefully, won't happen again.

Europe over friends any day.

Not having a go mate but do you think Uzbekistan should have just let it go? Or countless athletes who have had to fight for medals that are deservedly theirs after their competitors were caught doping?

We can't be too nice.

The Athletes is different they cheated and have been found out by the governing body.
This is just a mistake or error on the part of technology. We are all aware that VAR has its problems but I'm not aware that Hawkeye has had anything but 100% accuracy up until yesterday.
I think Refs and Assistants and the PL maybe have thought that Hawkeye was 100% accurate and have there for never questioned its decision, now they know differently they will hopefully change this opinion moving forward.
Doesn't help us I'm afraid but you can't just go awarding points or replaying games because of mistakes by Refs or Technology where would you draw the line.
Mistakes by officials in Football have always happened, Technology has and will help to cut down on those mistakes but it will never get everything right.

Two two scenarios are different as I am sure you are aware. You cannot claim we would have won the game if the goal was allowed as there is no way of knowing. In my opinion there is no basis for a legal claim and it would be embarrassing if the club took this course of action( which they won't)

Waste of time we got relegated last time through blatantly bad officials the penalty we should have had at manure the disallow goal at wetsham are two that spring to mind, they weren’t overturned this won’t either

Although we were in the right to take West Ham to court over Tevez that’s not how it’s remembered by most football fans. The way we, and in particular Wilder have carried ourselves this season has repaired some of the damage to how we are perceived by Football fans in general, even the damage done by Warnocks rants have been forgotten.
I’m sure every teams fans at some point has thought “it could only happen to us”
If anyone should have an issue with Hawkeye it’s the premier league as a whole as the system is no longer going to be seen as infallible.

I know pal. I'm with you. Not saying for a moment that legal action is even a possibility. I was merely musing.

That said, if precedent has been set, set it again and give us the fucking points!

Since when should we give a **** what other football fans think of us?

Only successful clubs are hated. I want us to be one of them.

It's no longer a sport, it's a business, a multi billion pound business at that. The technology was brought in to eradicate human mistakes, and on the back of this the officials default to the tech at all times. Hawkeye will have a lucrative contract to prove infallible GLT to the PL. Last night the whole system failed, not through some once in a lifetime set of circumstances but through either oversight or negligence involving a relatively routine situation were a GK fell into his net with the ball in his hands. An occurrence that looked like a goal in real time and certainly looked like a goal from both of the angles shown by the Sky cameras. That mistake has a potential cost to us dearly; at seasons end possibly between £15m to £20m. Those responsible should pay us damages equal to that cost. If we allow it to happen to us, these things will continue to happen to us. If it had involved Man Utd last night, the whole narrative would be considerably different.

I suspect you might think differently if we were in the position of Watford or Bournemouth

I'm still fuming on your behalf! And no, it's nothing to do with our relegation rivals getting a point, as I think we'll be ok, anyway.
Didn't someone say that hawkeye was checked before the game (as is usual) & it was working?
With hawkeye & var there is simply no excuse for missing that goal. Not anymore.
There's right & wrong & that was wrong. Simple as that.

If being successful and being hated go hand in hand in football Warnock must be the most successful man in football.

Warnock was the second best manager we have had in a generation.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Mourinho: Hated.

Is there any successful manager out there who isn't hated? Ancelotti is the only real one I can think of. Klopp is a sore loser. Guardiola isn't as innocent as he makes himself out to be.

Please don't take this as antagonism as you have always been decent when posting on here. I'm not playing you just the subject.

This could have bigger implications for the bottom teams than it has for us. Villa could escape by 1 point, West Ham, Brighton or Watford could get relegated on the back of this and lose significant money and stature for what could be a long time. The championship is not easy to get out of (Look at Fulham) even with the parachute payments as the best players want to stay in the prem and it's a downward spiral.

What really irked me (despite the completely inept officials including the ref and VAR) was the lack of class shown by Villa. Villa knew it was a mistake at half time and since they received help towards their promotion from Leeds following a walk in goal, didn't do a walk in goal at the start of the second half, Grealish even laughing about it when he knew. I think if you know the truth at half time then you should do the sportsmanlike thing. I'm still boiling about it this morning and now hope Villa don't stay in the Prem on the back of this.

As regards ourselves and Europe, Robinson is OK as a defender but can't work our system like JOC can and therefore we are going to struggle to get into Europe anyway now. We will have to see how we are with Fleck back on Sunday but I fear for the rest of our season without the overloads down the left, we may become too one dimensional down the right. I'm sure CWAK will be looking at that this morning. Also Freeman really changed things when he came on and defended really well so with 5 subs hopefully he will get more time.

I think its his first full game, JOC has been doing it 4 years-ish, and JOC was far fuckin worse that Robinson in his first few games

Give him a little slack, probably nervous as fuck all game, lets see after a few more games
