I presume we have somebody coming in shortly?

Surely Brentford will let Ryan Woods leave on a loan to buy deal?

Or more likely, Oliver Norwood. Who would be an upgrade on Evans.

But regardless, the concerns remain.

Let’s hope we’ve got someone lined up as a replacement then - imo Leonard isn’t good enough to be first choice.

lundstram is hit and miss at best

And Coutts is months away from being first team fit and ready.

Let’s hope we don’t have to wait around until the end of the window and can act decisively to bring someone in.

Fuck him. If he’s showing enthusiasm to go to Wigan then it tells you everything about him. Technically not a bad player but piss weak, massively inconsistent and us not standing in his way probably tells you how highly he’s rated by the staff.

We can do much better. Oli Norwood would be a major upgrade.

I'm not his biggest fan, but that said he's started a lot of games for us, and for him to want to leave already is slightly worrying. It may be a personal issue but Wigan isn't exactly a million miles away from Sheffield.

I prefer Lunsdtram personally, but he's not the long term answer, (None of no if Couuts will return to the level he was at) I just hope someone else is lined up but reading "Lee expressed an enthusiasm to leave so we decided to sanction the transfer" makes me wonder if we have.

I really don't know what to think anymore, I've remained positive over the last 2 games, but this has me slightly worried. Not necessarily the player leaving, but the bigger picture of why he would want to leave.

So, a regular championship international. 24 years old under decent contract length, in a threadbare team, in current market conditions
....

Goes for 750k.

Laughable

Boss Chris Wilder commented: "When the offer came in Lee expressed an enthusiasm to leave so we decided to sanction the transfer."

I find this bizarre. Why would he show such desire to join Wigan? He's in our first team.

It's a bit concerning to be honest.
You don't think players notice what's being said about them?

One of the biggest frauds to play for United. Lord knows how he accumulated so many fans on here.Hopefully we have someone lined up to replace him.

Couldn't agree more mate, Evans was the epitome of "round peg, square hole".....and I think we will see a better balance to the side without him. Watch him closely and you see just how technically poor he is, he gives the ball away, can only pass 2 yards, (sideways) and is completely incapable of taking a man on.....his positional sense is dreadful, constantly getting in the way of others and forget about shooting....cows arse/barn door 99% of the time.

Lunny gets a bad press on here but he always has due to people expecting him to be the new Coutts.....but compared to Evans he is superb, ok he makes a few silly mistakes but he shows for the ball, plays some sublime crossfield passes, gets stuck in and offers something going forward.

It was obvious from the first two games that Lunny & Evans together was not working, one of them had to go and thank goodness it was Evans.

That's the figure that's been mentioned on here pre loan deal, has it not?
I thought that was the 'undisclosed' figure most believe we paid wolves for him. We could be wrong. I would have thought half a season of championship football and the inflated market, maybe £1m at least? I don't know though

On the ball: passes sidewards or backs. Misplaces passes in dangerous positions ,despite abdicating any sort of responsability to move the game forward.

Off the ball: Doesn't break up the play or impose himself physically on the opposition.Doesn't track his runner. Doesn't shield the back three or make any attempt to join in and take a part in forward moves. Not the most mobile either. What does he do - I've no idea?

My main criticism of Lundstram is that he isn't the most mobile; and for such a big fella he doesn't impose his physicality enough. We aren't taking advantage of his passing range because nobody can run in behind.

This is a really weird one. He's started our first two games. We didn't seem to have a replacement lined up. He wanted to go to Wigan, even though there's a chance that, at least initially, he'll play less. Maybe CW was not impressed by those first two games (how could he be?) or maybe Evans thinks we're more likely to get relegated than Wigan. It's especially weird because Woodburn says he talked to Evans before joining and Evans supposedly "loves the place".

I said it earlier in the thread, and looking at Wilder’s comments seems to suggest it, Evans perhaps just felt he wasn’t enjoying the club as much as he’d enjoyed the spell at Wigan and word presumably reached them of this that promoted the move (think Leon Britton). Nothing to do with us pushing him out or actively wanting a deal to happen, but Wilder’s always maintainted that if you don’t want to play for the club there’s the door, and this fits that scenario.

Disappointing, and raises immediate concerns over the exact reasons for his unhappiness (system, team mates, management) so it’ll be interesting to see Wilder explain further in his pre-match interview today.

He wanted to go so fuck him he wasn't that good anyway Montyesque in his passing and ball control the only time you noticed the bloke was when he gave the ball away in dangerous areas, Lundstam will be a far better player at least he attempts a forward pass even if it doesn't always come off.

I think Evans is in a massive comfort zone as a player.

He has ability, but doesn't direct it in a way that will make him anything above a very average player at Championship level. It's a shame because on his debut at Norwich he appeared to be capable of driving the game forward.

I think Lundstram's mentally stronger and that will be one of the reasons we're keeping him instead.

It's called spin Ricky.

CW: Lee, we've had a bid from Wigan, good price for us and it's unlikely you'll be a first team regular for us and be in our long term plans. Are you interested?
LE: Well, erm yes
CW to Press: He expressed a desire to leave
United fans: Cunt, he's only been here 5 minutes and wants to go already. Fuck him.

And United get off the hook once again.

Lundstram is much stronger going forward IMO. Strange one, however we were overloaded in that area with Coutts coming back to fitness, Lundstram, Fleck and Leonard who can play there. In addition Basham, Duffy, Bryan and Woodburn can be shoehorned into the role if needs be. No concerns with him going out as he was out weakest midfielder.

Thanks for the wonder bastard against Boro last season.

Edit: Also we don't have to see another midfield with Evans and Lundstram in the middle again. Win / Win!
