What is worrying is that a footballer would rather play for Wigan fucking Athletic in their half empty rugby ground than stay at the Lane. That sets some alarm bells ringing for me.

Could be it's because their L1/bottom half Champ budget allows them to pay him more than us?

For what it’s worth I think this might be a good sign.

I ranted on that I thought Evens had huge potential and I wanted to see him alongside Fleck and Coutts... not because I didn’t want to see Duffy but because I thought Wilder had decided that a ‘flatter’ midfield 3 would make us less susceptible to counters and those disappointing goals we conceded at the back end of the season.

I don’t think anyone really realised that the simple lack of a Duffy role would result in our entire game looking so clueless...

So basically I’d expect to see us more like last season on Saturday (which although comes with its risks) I think everyone will agree is what we want to see.

Perhaps it's just a simple case that CW thought Evans wasn't ever going to cut it in our team.

Perhaps he just plays it sideways too much.

Perhaps we played him in a position that didn't suit him.

Perhaps playing with Morsy is like out Coutts & Fleck partnership.

Sad thing for me (IMHO) is that Lundstram is worse and our central midfield this morning is now considerable worse.

We just have to hope that there are some loans lined up and that we get a reaction against QPR .

Wilder is talking to radio Sheffield today, I will be really interested to know if it was Evans who wanted out or Wilder thay wanted rid.
With how fast it came about and the fact he's started both our games I feel like there's been a fall out. I really want to keep morale up in the squad so I hope that isn't the case.

Evans leaving abruptly,
Wilder not getting backed by the chairman,
Sharp and Duffys wives moaning on Twitter,
JOC out of form after transfer speculation..

I think it's time for a coach piss up-bonding session like on the drive back from Millwall a few years back!!

I'd find this bizarre because clearly Wilder prefers Evans to Lundstram. He's above him in the pecking order. We also haven't even seen him play in our best midfield line up this season, with Duffy in front.

I assume Wigan offered a decent fee, and that we have one coming in on loan - seemingly Oliver Norwood.

They seem to be both favourites of Wilder, they seem to be given different roles though upto now

Good move for all parties:

Wigan get a player they clearly wanted who did well for them last season
We get rid of a player who wasn't any better than what we already had, and doesn't get stuck in or create, he just retains possession - sideweays
We now know Evans wanted the move so presumably he's happy as well.
Frees up some money for a hopefully better replacement - if required - or more to spend on a forward, albeit on loan.

Bollocks is Lundstram worse than Evans. Evans possibly has more technical ability but he's a mincer. Lundstram gets stuck the fuck in and there isn't much in it between them technically anyway.

On the whole, I'd prefer Lundstram. Wigan aren't a random club to Evans - he enjoyed his time there last season and played well enough to get a move to the Championship, so he's obviously going to want to go back, especially if he hasn't settled in wonderfully here.

If it was Fleck "expressing an enthusiasm" to leave I would be rolling around on the floor bawling my eyes out, but as it's Lee Evans I couldn't care less. He doesn't fit the style of play that we want in my opinion, which is quick flowing positive football, getting the ball to the other end of the pitch quickly. Our midfielders in our system need to be able to move around well, get forward and link with the wide players which I don't think he has the mobility to do that well enough. He's painfully slow and very negative with his passing, sometimes doesn't even bother trying to search for a pass, I've seen him countless times where he's picked up the ball and looked up thought "no pass to pick" and then turn around to pass to one of the centre-half without being abit patient and search for one or hold the ball up until a forward pass comes available. If Norwood replaces him that's an excellent replacement, if not then hopefully Duffy gets picked back in the side until Coutts is back or Leonard will get an opportunity who I think is a player we've definitely not seen the best out of yet.

I'd like to think that my accurate description of him as a shitcunt played a part.

If you're reading this Mr Lundstram....:)

It's called spin Ricky.

CW: Lee, we've had a bid from Wigan, good price for us and it's unlikely you'll be a first team regular for us and be in our long term plans. Are you interested?
LE: Well, erm yes
CW to Press: He expressed a desire to leave
United fans: Cunt, he's only been here 5 minutes and wants to go already. Fuck him.

And United get off the hook once again.

Might be right. It's not like we can believe anything that comes out of Wilder's mouth anymore, unfortunately.

I think Wilder will give a better explanation than .that Ricky, you are bringing Wilder down with a post like that.He said all along it would be a slow burn!.wernt you one of those who thought he could walk on water.,
now we know he can't ,perhaps a bit of realism will crepe in now and stop this hassle it gets us no where.

Coutts has been back in full time training this week.

Coutts has looked impressive in full time training.

Evans has realised his number could well be up in the next few weeks.

Maybe it’s as simple as that !

Evans played in Flecks position, meaning Fleck adjusts to compensate - Evans just plays in panic mode. Lundstrum then tries to compensate and doesn't have the time to get his head up to make his game. Lundstrum might have a future position as DM or sweeper so he can get the time to hit the long pass. But that depends on counterattack football which we don't have the speed to do.

Good riddance in my opinion.

Evans is a classic case of frustratingly talented player who, for one reason or another, never put that talent to work. He played it safe/almost within himself every time I saw him play. Several occasions on Saturday our back 3 were in possession and desperate for a midfielder to show for the ball, Evans had latched on to one of their midfielders. That is the difference between him & Couttsy.

Evans expressing a desire to leave is the only desire I have seen of him whilst being a Sheff Utd player.

That move pleases me

From the official SUFC page:

"
Lee Evans has left Bramall Lane to join fellow Sky Bet Championship outfit Wigan Athletic.

United have agreed a loan until January with a permanent transfer to follow for the Wales international, who was on loan at the DW Stadium, prior to arriving at S2 from Wolves in January.

Boss Chris Wilder commented: "When the offer came in Lee expressed an enthusiasm to leave so we decided to sanction the transfer."

The 24-year-old has featured 21 times for the Blades and has started both games this season.

He scored two goals in his time a Blade, with those coming in the 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the Lane in April.

"
This doesn’t sit comfortably with me.

Not one jot.

Smacks of throwing the lad under the bus tbh.

Very disappointed in Wilders comments here. He should have been a wee bit more respectful of Evans.

Very happy he's moved on, apart from his goals against Boro he was exactly what I didn't want see, always slowing it down and going sideways, can't shoot, useless with free kicks, lost the ball frequently, offered little defensively. What was the point. Other than those he was brilliant.

Me too. "When the offer came in Lee expressed an enthusiasm to leave so we decided to sanction the transfer." is a marked change from the guy who was telling Woodburn what a great place it was not so long ago. Wonder if Liverpool have a recall clause in the loan deal cos Woodburn might be having his doubts now.

Might be right. It's not like we can believe anything that comes out of Wilder's mouth anymore, unfortunately.

I'm afraid it is hopelessly naive to trust everything (anything!) anyone in football says. If they did, this place for one would combust. The way managers are scrutinised on everything they say already shows how careful they need to be, hence the generally banal Q&A's every few days.

As for Evans, I'm not going to miss him at all. Not good in possession, but a great tackler or defender and certainly not the type of player that will improve this club. If we've been able to sell him for a profit then all the better.

My initial reaction was that I would rather have kept him over Lunny, mainly due to his range of passing [when he uses it], his liking of a long shot and his set pieces. But on reflection I think Lunny is perhaps a bit more versatile. The problem is that Lunny looks a bit unfit, but that will improve and he is certainly stronger on the ball than Evans who would get knocked of it quite easily.

Lundstram at the very least does have our only assist so far this season, and it was a decent one too.

Ridiculous overreaction from some to an incredibly average player leaving, clearly Wilder feels the same way hence why he is off. How can you be such a fan of someone who does nothing but pass the ball sideways all game?

Obviously there is a replacement coming in on loan.

Whet's he said wrong Dronnie? Seems to me Wilder has said that Evans wanted to leave so Wilder decided it was ok for him to leave, providing the deal was right for us obviously. Wilder's not said something like he was only average and could be dispensed has he?! Am I missing something?

If Wilder doesn't see Woodburn as good enough to start then Klopp will be recalling him anyway and sending him somewhere he'll be better utilised. Saturday will be interesting, especially now one of the midfield slots has been freed up.

Just because he wanted to go doesn't mean he didn't like working here. I have worked in a variety of locations, many of which I would recommend but that doesn't mean I haven't wanted to move on elsewhere, for a change.

Maybe he still lives in the Northwest? Not sure on that one, but if so he might be sick of driving over the Pennines everyday. I did it for the best part of a year and it drove me mad.

I suspect however that Wigan are just splashing the cash around after promotion, certainly more than us, and he is probably getting a few more grand in his weekly pay packet. He might also have missed playing there, despite loving it here as well.

The other option is that Chris has nailed him to the wall after the opening 2 matches and he has spat his dummy out.

Edit : to add, I think we could spare one from CM anyway [but obviously I wouldn't be at all objectionable to get a better replacement back in] as we have Lunny, Lenny, Fleck and maybe Bryan. Bash to cover if needed.

I have a good feeling that Lenny will come good this year, he looked pretty solid the other night and gives us some strength and height in there as well.
